I can't remember... do Rings of Regeneration help trolls, or are they like Rings of Sustenance for Spriggans?

Yeah, the rings do. It's the troll leather armor that doesn't do anything for trolls, iirc.

And another great function of those rings (at least in 0.7.x as i'm sure it will be nerfed anyways) is that ring of regeneration works on a Mummy, and as Mummies do not know the hunger annoyance, you can wear that ring forever, without any hunger increase while regenerating.
That's always the kind of ring i am hoping for when playing a mummy Chaos Knight of Makhleb

Do multiple rings of regen stack? While perusing the wiki, Necromutation mentioned the benefits of not having a food lock being that you can wear "rings" (plural) of regen without worry, but it wasn't clear to me if that was just something to do Because You Can, or whether it had a tangible benefit over using a single ring.

Again, yeah, multiple sources of regen stack -- or at least I'm pretty sure they do. Two rings give more regen than one, two and troll leather give even more, stack the regeneration spell/trog's hand/demonspawn death noming mutation for yet another boost. Iirc, the returns are diminishing, though.

And of course, the hunger increase keeps going up.

Mummy.

Although... I never really noticed much of a problem with hunger when wearing a regen, even as a troll.  Probably because it cut down my resting time.

And I just did a wizard mode with a TrBe with 2 regen rings.  Completely ridiculous.  I seemed to heal several hitpoints every turn.  Now if I added Trog's Hand on top of that...

Mummy can't stack the regen near as high as a living critter, though. No access to non-item regen :-\

Unless Trog's Hand works on them. Might have to check that out one of these days...

Dual-ring Troll Chaos Knight of Makky with a little necromancy (for regeneration) would probably be the best you can get so far as passive HP recovery goes, barring regen artifacts. I think randarts can nab up regen without being a ring of, at least.

Anyway, the good thing about not-troll regeneration is that it only ups your hunger rate when you're regenerating, not when you're just sitting around. Probably why additional regeneration isn't terribly noticeable on a troll. The MDFi I have sitting around somewhere finds even a single ring pretty noticeable, if a non-issue due to gourmand amulet.

Oh man, this game is diablo addicting.  I'm in a bit of a bind right now, but the story is rather funny.  Xom would be cracking up.

After my last character died as a result of my stupidity (and about 20 big kobolds) I roll up a new Dwarf Fighter.  The first level seemed to go well. I picked up some nice equipment, including a hat of intelligence (+2), an amulet of stasis, dagger of returning, and TONS of teleport scrolls.  I clear out the first level with no issues, and by the time I'm ready to descend onto level 2 of the dungeon, I've gained my 3rd level.

I merrily skip down the stairs and kill a few kobolds.  Then I run into Jessica.  Deciding discretion is the better part of valor, my dwarf bravely descends to level 3 and into a pack of jackels, kobolds, and goblins.  I waste a teleport scroll by forgetting to take my amulet off, and am able to escape by the skin of my teeth.  I foolishly walk 2 or 3 steps from where I ended up and am spotted by an orc and a large number of assorted dungeon creatures.  I quickly use another one of my scrolls.

...And teleport right on top of Sigmund.  I toss my dagger of returning at him (of course it doesn't return) as I teleport out.

And so here is where I am now, I'll let the screenshot speak for itself...

I have one more teleport scroll, but I'm worried where I might end up...

If I somehow survive this, I'm officially legendary.

:edit2:Good lord.  I managed to dodge into a corridor, and one of my potions was a health potion so I thought I might actually make it out of this alive.  I gleefully hacked through 3 or 4 of the jackals and then this happened.

I guess I get to try random scrolls now...

That's a gnoll fortress, dude.  Nice one.  They are a fun challenge.  FUN.  CHALLENGE.  You probably could have taken Jessica, though.  She sorta sucks.  If you were level 3 you would have been fine.

Gnoll fortresses can have Ogres in them, actually.

Definitely should of attacked Jessica. You were so early you wouldn't of lost anything if she killed you and she's not that tough, you had a good shot of killing her.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Nothing I can do about it now.  I remember have difficulties with her in the past so I ran.  There also may have been a giant ant or two, and those things are pretty tough at level 3.

Yeah... Jessica can be dangerous if she's got a nasty wand or somethin', but usually isn't much of a threat. You can run into her as the third or so enemy in the 10 rune Sprint map and usually take 'er down with a first level character, often without even having to down a speed potion or somethin'. Large rocks (troll/ogre hunters) can one-shot her pretty easily. She's really not particularly dangerous in the grand scheme o'things.

Unless she decides to haste up and spam pain at you. Then, you've got a pretty good chance of dying. Pain hurts at level one.
