I'm stuck fighting Dispater on the ten rune challenge. What's a good way to kill him, short of changing to TSO and shattering my way through the back of hell? He's survived through an entire MP stack of firestorms, haunts, and shatters. <3 DEWz

Iirc, my MuSu of Sif that got to that point killed Dispater by lobbing somewhere around 8 large abominations and a constant stream (probably >100 mp worth, tbh) of haunts. It took a wee titch of time. A lot of spectral undead critters died. Anyway, I'd probably recommend a full MP spewing of horrible thing, then downing magic potions or channeling and laying down the support/artillery spells.

MuSu later died to something else in those hell rooms, but thems the breaks.

Wait... have Death Yaks... been slowed down?  I swear they used to be fast.

Lair:8 has suddenly become much easier for DeFEs.

I don't remember them being fast in 0.6. They've always been easy experience for FE.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Ok, Hydras are now normal speed as well.  I'm sure they used to be fast.  So wait... this is an example of the dev team making a frustrating part of the game easier?  How did I miss this (answer: I've been playing SpEn a lot, where the difference between fast and normal is pretty much irrelevant)?

And damnit, what the hell is up with the demon end to the lair?  I wasn't expecting it at all.

*scratches head* If hydras were ever fast, it was pre-6.0. They certainly haven't been since the tournament.

Methinks you spent some time as a naga or chei worshiper or something. Either that or mistaking the occasional double move for enhanced ground speed.

EDIT: Hydras do move faster in water, but their ground speed is the standard 10.

"A quad damage tile, for Sprint"

Silly Devteam. Awesome, but silly.

I picked that up. Too bad I wasted it out of curiosity. RAAAWWRRRR FIRE STORM x4 DAMAGE RIP THROUGH UNIQUES LIKE PAPER BLOW SHIT UP PEW PEW PEW. Then Dispater comes in to ruin my fun. He even picked up a large shield to bugger my crystal spears.

edit:
Also, bugger Dispater. Antaeus got me.

The rest of the morgue file is here.

The Orb is now the world's most powerful chew toy. :D Zot was easy, since my cat could kill everything in a few hits. Only torment caused him any trouble. 27 AC, 40 EV, 14 SH, and over 250 HP is pretty awesome for a cat.

Hydras and death yaks haven't changed speeds. Large creatures can now trample you if you're smaller than them. That seems to be the only thing new about them.

Now that's a lot of slaying.

I guess TSO becomes kinda necessary for the rN+++?

*grumbles* Packs of four gnolls on D2.

I don't mind getting an orc wizard, and orc priest and six orcs before I've even found the temple. Oh no, I can deal with all THAT. But what really pisses me off is when that's followed up by a bloody Orc Warrior WHO FRIGGIN ONE SHOTS ME for 33 damage because he's got some bloody big axe.

Unwinnable situations time!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm pretty annoyed about this one.  Turns out all 3 of my scrolls of blinking just happened to be incinerated.  Basically nothing I can do here.  Hmm.

EDIT: Woah, got out.  Required 3 heal wounds, though.

Level was stuffed with centaurs, but I slaughtered them all >:D.

Argh! I've went and done it again! I REALLY need to remember that Troll Berzerkers, especially once they're down in Lair, have more abilities than just Berserk. If I'd have used Trog's regeneration, or called in Brothers in Arms, I'd have tipped the scales against the two Ice Dragons. I killed one, and got the other down to the tiniest sliver of health before I died. Couldn't gulp potions or read scrolls, due to Berserking. :(

I hope it's totally drilled into me this time.

Going well! I am aiming for a full 15 rune victory with this one, I should get transmutation and necromancy up for necromutation.

Yeah, too bad Mr.Scruffy rarely used those rings.  Someone once said on the dev wiki that Statue Form needs a buff. Then, I walked into the Orb chamber can killed everything in 3 hits without using the slaying rings..

Good luck! Getting Necromutation is going to take a lot of grinding, since high elves suck at necromancy iirc.
