protip for vampire transmuters:

potions of blood can turn into fireballs. Use this in a pinch.

Blood gives a random cloud, actually.

I also have a good draconian transmuter going on. On the first floor he found a Young Poisoner's handbook! Soon I'll have memphetic cloud and after that I'm going to get either blade hands or poison arrow. which would you recommend?

Blade hands!
Never found poison arrow that useful...

Don't waste a slot on mephitic cloud! As a transmuter you got a much better option with fulsome distilation + evaporate. You can make potions of confusion with explode into mephitic clouds from most of the monsters you come across.

I'd say blade hands if you're planning on training your unarmed combat (which you should, draconians get extra unarmed combat attacks, IE headbutt and tail-slap along with punch and kicks, there are times when you can do up to 3 attacks per round due to that), its stupidly powerful against anything that isn't a hydra, even powerful melee uniques go down in a flash. If you want more ranged option you can go for poison arrow.

Atm I'm raising earth magic along with transmutation to maybe learn Bolt of Iron later. I'll be taking ice form next me thinks.
I'm also raising long blades to take advantage of artifact weapons, unarmed combat + one/one and a half handed weapons is pretty scary. It works with two handed weapons aswell, but to a lesser extent.

Actually, Blood ALWAYS gives you an effective cloud, its just random which cloud it is. Could be steam, fire, poison, or confuse I believe. Thus, once you get the ability, any clean corpse you make should be bottled and used as generic ammo, saving the confusion and poison potions for the deadlier mobs you need to be sure of debuffing.

Random between steam (ok, not that good), confusion(good) and fireball (good, jelly-killer). So, as I said, it's an effective crowd control device, in a pinch. Arguably it's better to bottle low level corpses' (goblins, etc...) blood than to distill them. I'd still keep a few confusion potions as a backup, given that blood potions rot away, though.

So I just started playing this. Pretty awesome, and I like the fact you can click on stuff. I've only two levels down the dungeon so far. The tutorial(?) started me as a Minotaur berserker who worshipped Trog(?). Is offering corpses and important life-or-death thing to do? I noticed when I went berserk and slaughtered about 6 bad guys hanging around the entrance to level two (bastards >:() I got another ability. Is this the only way I can get them?

Thanks in advance.

No. Eating corpses is a life or death thing though. Press 'c' for carving, and then 'e' for eating.

If you aren't hunger, sacrifice away.

Killing gets you more piety, but saccing corpses gets you significantly more. More piety = more Trog power!

Hah.  Just whipped up a spriggan priest of Elyvilon, to see how far I could get with being a cowardly pacifist.

Had to use my soothing skills a couple times to get out of some tight spots (there was one time I was stuck in a corridor between a kobold and a goblin.  I ran up to the kobold, pacified him, then turned to stand my ground against the goblin.  The now-neutral kobold came up behind me and started whacking me because I was in his way).

Made it aaalllll the way down to level 2 before getting a quick trip six feet under.  Did some impressive running and dodging in the rather cramped corridors surrounding the stairwell, and made my way into an open room.

Sigmund shows up.  Wand of frost.  First shot misses, second one doesn't.  12 points of damage.

I was full on health with 11 max hitpoints.  Bam.

I ran into Sigmund 3 times in a row earlier today.  Quick death for a sludge elf transmuter.  Damn those are slow to start. Currently at level 11, on D:10.  I haven't found any branches yet, which is starting to make me upset.  Except for the temple.  I found the temple.

Confused Sigmund is dead Sigmund. You should have Evaporate by the time you run into him.

Transmuters aren't the easiest combo, but they're by far my favorite.  :) Here's a link to a Sludge Elf Transmuter guide.

I was level 1 when I ran into him all three times.

Thanks Dr. Feelgood, but I read the guides already.  How do you think I got him to level 11?

I've wiped the floor with multiple other uniques since then, and I'm feeling pretty good about this guy.

Should I run Orc, because I found both Orc and the Lair.

Update: Ran orc down to Orc:4, but had to turn back, due to all hell breaking loose.  Demons. Shit.

Am starting lair.

The beginning of Lair is easier than the beginning of Orc.
