Huh, I didn't know you could find decks if you didn't worship Nemelex...

Sorry if I am derailing a conversation but is Jiyva a god worth worshiping?

You sometimes find random decks on the ground. They're not really common, though, and Nemelex gives a lot of extra abilities for dealing with them.

I've wanted to try Jiyva, but have only seen the stupid altar like twice ever. And on both times, I was worshipping someone else already. I hear he gives you nifty mutations, eats all your items and plops jellies everywhere.

Seems to be the deity to follow if you want to grab the Slime Pit rune easily too, as he makes all the dangerous and murderous jellies supposedly neutral.

I've seen Jiyva's altar too many times on early levels...the jellies surrounding the altar usually kill me :(

I found a +2 gold dragon armour on D:1.

I was playing a Kobold Stalker. In other words, it would kill my stealth and spellcasting to wear it. FUCK!

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

You are now a kobold FIGHTER. Fuck spells. Use your out-of-depth armour while you have the chance. It's what Xom would tell you to do if you worshipped her.

IMO it's better to avoid using heavy armor (as in, anything beyond chainmail, which does rate as heavy armor but it's more bearable. Plus elven chain mail lets you cast spells and sneak.), due to it's huge evasion penalties. Evasion>protection.

My last run was a mountain dwarf fighter who worshipped Jiyva, it was a blast. You can remove bad mutations easily and he protects you from getting more bad mutations while giving you some unique ones of his own. I had "Your body is covered in golden eyes. (+5 Acc)" for a long time as well as about a half dozen other nice ones.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It took me a while to finish this game. I got terribly bored in Pan, so I only got 1 rune per day... Today I decided to get the 4 remaining runes quickly. I didn't find another ziggurat to enter, which is disappointing. I probably should have entered the ziggurat at the end of the game, then I would've easily cleared it. I'm going to stop playing Crawl, until the tournament starts.

With the wizard mode i have tested things i would never do otherwise in the regular game, by example entering Pandemonium.

The only exit i was able to find was facing one of the major demon lord that randomly spawned in one of the hundred of Pandemonium maps i roamed into (thanks wizard mode) and used Banishement on me, so i could then roam for a dozen more minutes the Abyss and finally get an exit back to the dungeon.

But out of that exit hunt very annoying long time, Pandemonium had some very fun parts.
Though, some situations encountered had impossible difficulties if you want to get completely through some of the map :

And there, you can only say thanks to Blink and the nearby portal to another Pandemonium map nearby.

I lost a Naga Stalker of Cheibriados today that i'd been playing for a few days.  Its a good race/class/god combo, I had cleared Swamp, Shoals, and Vault, and decided to finally try to unwield the +5 dagger of distortion that I had left equipped the entire game so far so that I could start using some of the randarts that I'd been collecting.  I was of course banished to the abyss.  It was quite easy to hang out and fight with the lowered spawn rate, and I ended up getting cocky (of course, the prerequisite for most late game deaths) and decided to wait for the rune to spawn in plain sight.  A few powerful skeletons combined with my being used to not getting hit led me to die without thinking to use a few of my previously largely unneeded escape skills.

I'm confident enough with the class combo to move on to working on other ones before the tourney.  I'll see if I can post the char dump, (its on my internetless laptop that I use at work)

congrats on finishing pandemonium, I died twice there getting the last runes, did you encounter the tiny room with 20 hellions and a pan lord?

Heh. I probably would've lost if I found Hellion island. My last 15-rune character nearly got instant-killed by those Hellions, despite having over 200 HP. Haunt is great for dealing with them.

I'm tempted to practice with some ogres, since my last one nearly won. It'd be funny to win with an ogre before Team Ogre does. How does the tournament works? Is it the same as the previous one?
