Note to self: Learn and use Fire Storm as some point.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

That has been my goal for ages. It is so hard to cast!  >:(

I usually never even try. I turn Fire Magic off and put everything in Conjurations and Dodging, sometimes turning Spellcasting on to get a little skill into that. I've never gotten Fire Storm above "Terrible".

Also, Xom just gifted my Transmuter a fucking randart vampiric quick blade. Wat do? Note that I already have a dagger of speed.

Edit: I hate Xom's gifts. Thanks for giving me two poisoned darts, I'm a Green Draconian for fucks sake!

Edit2: STOP GIVING ME SHIT! FUCK!

You are worshipping Xom, and you want him to stop giving you things? You ARE aware of all the other fun stuff he could do.

Please see my earlier Xom run. I got cheese, rocks, an awesome weapon, a shitty cursed randart, more rocks, some sling bullets, a fuckton of arrows (nonmagical), more rocks, some poisoned bolts, and some more cheese.

Level 21? Gosh darnit! Lol, my best effort was level 14. Guess I gotta practice more.. what were your skill levels?

http://crawl.akrasiac.org/rawdata/Demos/Demos.txt

I can cast Fire Storm at "Fair" (basically 50/50) with a ring of wizardry. I have to drink brilliance potions, so I don't die horribly to miscast effects.

That has been my goal for ages. It is so hard to cast!  >:(

Well, that's the price for having the most powerful attack spell in the game. The easiest way to get it usable is to play a Deep Elf Wizard.

Mutate me? I don't mind that. Teleport me? Eh, I've got an Amulet of Stasis. Randomly berserk me? He just gifted me a bunch of food. Tukimas? I laugh, I wield no weapon. Banishment? That would suck. Poison me? He's tried that. A lot. Statdeath gifts? Not possible, and I've got a ton of remove curse scrolls.

It's not even the gifts, he just encumbered me while I was fighting, that's all.

I have another conumdrum. Another Merfolk Crusader. Level 7. I just did a random teleport to survive, and landed in a diamond shaped area on top of a portal to a Tomb. I have another scroll, so I can get out, so I went down. Is it worthwhile for me to fight through the zombies?

Edit: Answer: YES!!! I must have gotten 4 levels of polearm and 3 fighting out of that, plus two or three experience levels. Also, the traps. Tons of poisoned needles.

Ossuarys (AKA mini-tombs, the portal vault kind) are really easy. Can't recommend going through them enough. Drop your potions once you enter, though, since there's always at least one mummy at end. The loot is somewhere between "a handful of potions and scrolls" and "enough potions to last through Lair"

Also, there was another quick blade just sitting in Lair:2. If short blades weren't shit, the forms suck royally without unarmed combat, I didn't already spend 7 levels of exp on unarmed combat, and if Xom didn't just give me the sting mutation, I would consider using them. But seriously, I'm up to like 4 different ways of poisoning things (breathe, stinger, evaporate, and spider form). I need to learn Ice Form and Blade Hands ASAP, though. That might be a little hard since I dropped all my spellbooks on the same level as a Hydra. I'm going to go get them then clear Lair.

Edit: Scratch that, a centaur showed up while I was getting away from the hydra. I was so weak that when the hydra move-attacked, it finished me off in one turn.

Aye, it was EXTREMELY beneficial, mostly from an experience standpoint, giving me significant increases to Polearms and Fighting. Snagged a wand of flame, a couple handfuls of needles, and some assorted potions. Two mummies, but 7 scrolls of remove curse make them a joke.

Even I would recommend learning Mephitic Cloud if you ever get the chance. It's that good. Oh, you're getting attacked by a powerful unique? "MC, lol ur confsd, melee! lol, u broked out? MC point blank. lol, i get unconfsd in 3 turns wil ur still confsd!"
It's even better with spellcasting.  The can't walk towards you (and if they do stagger next to you you just take a step back) and they can't cast spells or shoot ranged attacks.  Apparently, they can fire wands in random directions, but I've never seen them do this.

Anyway, I'm gonna keep doing Spriggan Assassins for a while.  They have seriously godly evasion.

Also, I almost always seem to get 2 levels from killing Pikel.  It's hard with standard melee, but it's easy if you have any measures to use on tough monsters.

Oh it was my first time finding one. It wasn't too hard either actually, since the kobolds tend to kill eachother accidently with their poisoned needles and such.

They're super fun if you have Mephitic Cloud memorized.
