Mephitic Cloud looks nice, as always, but I think that would be spreading my skills just a wee bit too thin.
You can *never* go wrong with Mephitic Cloud. Sigmund, ogres, snakes, they all become a joke when you hit them with this baby. It's the main reason I think wizards are better than elementalists (though high spellcasting at start doesn't hurt either).
True, but with a Deep Dwarf Earth Elementalist (aptitudes: Spellcasting 160, Conjurations 120, Poison 130, Air 170) with absolutely no skill in any of the related fields (aside from spellcasting), I figured it just wasn't the right choice to make.

Not that it makes much difference though.  He's still quite dead.

Again Stone Soup is slowing down for no reason. And this time it's resisting deleting the game and "reinstalling" it.

The nice thing about it is that it's low level, so you can pull it off with shoddy skills.

Chairman, Don't know what to say. I only ever have it slow down if I'm playing in wizard mode doing a super spawn level or something.

I have a conundrum. I just reached the temple. I'm level 6, Merfolk Crusader. I have two extra starting books, Transfigurations and Control. Sif, Vehumet, or Okawaru?

Even I would recommend learning Mephitic Cloud if you ever get the chance. It's that good. Oh, you're getting attacked by a powerful unique? "MC, lol ur confsd, melee! lol, u broked out? MC point blank. lol, i get unconfsd in 3 turns wil ur still confsd!"

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I'd say Sif because I always pick Sif :P

But seriously, if you're going for more melee than magic, go with Okawaru, haste is just too awesome.

I think Sif. I have Haste in my starter book, and with the Book of Control, I have LOTS of nice high end enchantments too. Getting a bonus to spells to cast mass confusion is gonna be nice.

I could be wrong, but I think that the spell Haste contaminates you while Okawaru's power doesn't.

All haste causes contamination eventually.

Picture of NetTiles interface for the curious.

Woo! This is the first time I'm able to cast Fire Storm so early. It's nice being able to casually walk in and pick up a rune. My demonspawn has torment immunity, so I don't need lich form. Unfortunately, the game hasn't spawned a staff of energy yet.

Okawaru.

His abilities are the same as the potions. Okawaru is a glorified vending machine.

Fourth book, Envenomations, with the nifty Olgreb's Toxic Radiance and Resist poison. +3 ring mail artifact with +3 dex and +3 int. Unfortunately, it brings my casting down, but I think I'll put the shield away for a bit to balance that out.

Edit: Sigmund. The slaughter shall be quick and efficient. Unfortunately, Blork the Orc is on the same level. He might be a challenge. Just turned level 8. Prince Ribbit has arrived as well, in the same general area as Blork. Ack, Ribbit is deadly.

Don't use Mass Confusion. Wait until you can learn a spell called Alistair's Intoxication. It's a level 4 Trns/Pois spell and only works on natural living creatures, but it's completely unresistable.

Prince Ribbit turns out to be able to do strikes in excess of 40 HP. I did not expect that.
