This game with a Spriggan Venom Mage of Vehumet has been really weird.  Firstly, so far it has felt kindof... effortless.  I had to skip a couple of levels, but overall, I've done well.

The two strange things:

Firstly, it's like the game wants me to be a summoner.  I got the book of callings and the book of demonology.  I'm planning to get summonings a bit higher later and use demonic horde (and Mystic Blast when Vehumet eventually gives me annihilations).

Secondly... I did something unbelivably stupid.  I went to the hive, thinking it was just a lair that was infested with bees.  I made a stash, and only realised a short while later that it was Hive rather than Lair 2 >.<.

Oh well... hive 2 is fine for a stash, especially now that plants have randomly grown and blocked it off from the rest of the level.  Also, hive got me tonnes of easy xp (bees go down against poison fast) and what is almost certainly enough food to last for the rest of the game.

Now I need to go back up and find the lair (and orc...).  Never mind, this has been a very fun game so far.

Cleared swamp. Got a clarity mutation, and had a high enough health pool to survive most poisons plus some healing potions for the more severe cases. I lucked out and the vault I got was swamp_fiery, which was ideal. Between my frost branded demon whip, my fire resistant platemail, and my reflective shield for hydras it was almost a joke getting through. I invoked haste and strength from Okawaru and ripped most of the dragons apart with two or three hits. I didn't even need to use my amulet of rage (which is good, the exhaustion afterwards would have left me very vulnerable). The decaying rune of zot is MINE!

Slime might be tough, and unfortunately I got shoals instead of snake which I have no prayer of doing, so it looks like I'll need to go after either a few of the hell runes or raid the tomb and slime pits. Should be... interesting.

Edit:drank a potion of mutation and gained blink, poison spit, and cold resistance. Not bad, not bad at all.
Edit 2:Okawaru gave me cold resistant scale mail. Now if I could find some permanent or invokable form of flight or levitation I'd have a decent shot at eventually doing Cocytus.
Edit 3:found gold dragon armor. Pretty awesome.

You've already cleared Vault:8 and Crypt, right? Lots of good loot to be had there. If you're high enough level, clearing Elf is also coming up on the pipeline. If it's Exp you need, clear Zot:1-4, Blade, and Shoals:1-4 (Trust me, Shoals:1-4 are really easy. Only the Merfolk on the last level are actually challenging). If it's Loot you need, you're kind of screwed. You need the proper equipment to clear Slime, and tangling with the Hells without a source of rMut, rN+++, and rC and rF as needed isn't a good idea. You might be able to get away without resistances in Dis, but in all the Hells, rN helps a lot since it reduces Torment damage. Of course, your Eveningstar will be incredibly powerful in the Hells, Abyss, and Pandemonium. Whatever you wind up doing, good luck.

Tomb is viable, but it's fucking evil. Don't bring any potions or extra equipment in. Get your MR up as high as possible so you don't get paralyzed by the Sphinxes. Get as much rN as you can both so Torments do less damage and so you don't get drained. Be prepared to be banished since there's a LOT of traps generated in Tomb. A wand of healing is extremely valuable here.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Well, I lost my last Spriggan in a pretty stupid way.  Could've easily survived if I just ran away from the fight... oh well.  I was too used to dodging everything, I guess.

And my guy straight afterwards drank a potion of rot on the first floor and died from it :P.

I lost my vampire assasin due to overconfidence. I had been killing lots of orc wizards without too much trouble, using my newfound lightning powers, then closing on. I did the same with this last one. Only he was wielding a short sword of draining. Ouch.

Ok... staff of energy.

Poison arrow.

Ridiculous speed and stealth.

Let the fun begin.

I also have orb of destruction in case something can survive a few rounds of poison arrow.  I mean, seriously... I killed a Green Death with it.

Nikola kills me in one hit :/.  Bastard.

I was doing FINE with another vampire assasin, until I found a weapon shop and decided to buy that 200 gold artifact sword. Which turned out to be the -5, -5 "Wrath of Ydremuul", which is magically imbued with the power of making its attacks take twice as long as a normal short sword.

I was pummeled to death by an unarmed KOBOLD.

Sometimes, wasting identify scrolls is a good idea. :P

My latest sludge elf transmuter just found an amulet of the gourmand on D:2. I hope I'll last at least a little while before dying a humiliating death. I find a jungle-dwelling elf that devours all his enemies incredibly thematically appropriate, and will definitely convert to Fedhas on the first altar I see. :D

Doesnt Fedhas kind of suck, though?

TBH, I expected him to have some kind of "harvest" power that provided you with fruit. But quite the contrary. You NEED fruit to power several of his gifts, and fruit is not exactly plentiful in the first place

They need a jungle themed branch, or rework the Lair to be more jungley. Fedhas is pretty worthless, though Sunshine/Flood are VERY useful, especially against EELS WHY ARE THERE EELS!!!

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Man, vampires are cool. In particular, I like the whole thing about becoming more alive or less depending on the hunger state. It reminds me of the bad guy in Hellraiser. In fact, I like to play chaos knights of lugonu and pretend they're like the bad guy from Hellraiser. Or, for that matter, play  any other vampire character and pretend they are like the bad guy from Hellraiser, its just that since Lugonu knights get out of the abyss, it seems even more thematic.

They should improve the bonus for "being alive", though. As it is it's so much better to stay hungry that there's not much point in going for "alive" status, barring drinking mutation potions in hopes of getting good ones (yes! alive vampires mutate instead of rotting when drinking one)

They need a jungle themed branch, or rework the Lair to be more jungley. Fedhas is pretty worthless, though Sunshine/Flood are VERY useful, especially against EELS WHY ARE THERE EELS!!!

And for the exorbitant price of two whole grapes, you can summon a friendly oklob plant that lasts forever and grants you the experience from its kills.  Obviously not worth the expense.  And granting you an ability that one-hit-kills all ghouls or necrophages, while granting you piety for doing so.

Mind, I haven't played the latest version yet, so they may have changed the thing about having a single raisin be worth just as much as a whole grapefruit as far as Fedhas abilities are concerned.  And before, you could still use those abilities even without fruit, you just had to cough up some piety for the privilege.

Fedhas gives you so many methods of making yourself safe, it's not even funny.  You can surround yourself with water, block off passages with plants (that you can still walk/shoot through), or even turn an entire dungeon level into a safe haven through good use of the "reproduction" special ability, which causes friendly giant spores to erupt from nearby corpses.  They wander around until they find an enemy to blow up on, at which point they create a number of neutral (don't give you experience for kills, unlike the first generation of spores) ballistomycetes, who will periodically spawn more neutral spores for as long as they remain.

Eventually, more and more spores will be generated and will explode on whatever they find, causing more spore-production facilities to spring forth.  After a while, the entire level will become a forest of passage-blocking mushrooms (that you can walk through) and kamikaze spore packs who will attack any enemy creature that dares wander in (note:  While they may not choose to attack you, that doesn't mean that you're exempt from the collateral blast damage.  Keep a safe distance).

It should probably be stated that this is all information based off of when I was mucking about in 6.0 Trunk.  It's quite possible that some, if not all, of the information stated here has changed to some extent.

Okawaru gave me some randart boots with levitation (seriously loving Okawaru, he's the fighter version of Sif Muna) so I've been clearing shoals. Not too bad, except food has been iffy. I had to leave all my permafood on the surface, and about half the creatures in shoals are poisonous. I've got a kraken on level 2, which I came damn close to killing three times but each time his tentacles nearly killed me. My demon whip has been amazingly great for some of the amphibious monsters here with the cold blooded tag.

After eating some mutagenic flesh, I got a few AC muts and level 2 poison spit. That's been one of my favorite muts ever.

Fedhas isn't super powerful, but I like the utility powers. Drying and creating water. Walking (and firing) through plants. The wandering mushrooms are also quite useful at times. The fruit cost for manipulating plants is pretty steep, but I wouldn't say Fedhas sucks.

Also, holy shit found a lajatang! :O I don't care if I'll be able to cast ice form and blade hands and whatever, I'm still going to train staves for this thing.

On vampires, the huge regeneration bonus for being alive is more than worth it most of the time.
