AH THAT TUTORIAL IS HORRIBLE. THAT...DEMON THING. AHHHH!

I killed the Sigmund, woot!
Then I got the demon to be 'slightly hurt'. He then hit me twice, killing me.
Ow.

Yeah, I wand-of-fireballed the demon.

Pro-Tip: He's either immune to magic, or fire, or both. Shrugged off the blast with no damage, and one-shotted me.

You can damage him with the fire wand. A tiny bit.

He resists a lot though.

Ok, now that's weird.
I was fighting (well, i was busy dying hundred of time) the huge demon (thanks to wizard mode)when he launched some fire vortex that was burning everything around.

The huge demon was not immune to that fire, as i saw it progressively hurt (and my fire wand ran out quickly, as there is few charge in this one).
I don't know if it is our common pain from being burned by the vortex fire, but suddenly, he turned ... friendly ?

Too bad he can't come with me in further in the dungeon, must be a real good ally lol.

Unfortunately, seems the room has no exit. You can only apparently either die or run back to the stairs and leave the dungeon in this tutorial.

As i saved before going to his floor and save scummed a bit to see if there was a possibility before using wizard mode (and understanding that it is not possible at all to kill him with the equipment and level you have at this point), i noticed that each time i encountered him, he had a different appearance (various kind of head, body and wings) with this tile version.
Very nice touch and impressive 2D art.

Pandemonium Lords have had randomized names, tiles, spells, and descriptions for awhile now. Yes, they've even had the double tall tiles, too.

Quite cool to show the otherwise difficult to reach Pandemonium Lords to new players.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Do a wizard mode magic map.

Well, my sludge elf transmuter finally found the bloody temple and picked Sif. Like two levels later? I fall through another shaft and land in D:12, amongst some angry war dogs. Are archer statues and eyes of draining dangerous?

Also, is blade hands worth anything? Sludge elves are pretty good at unarmed, and despite having used my trusty quarterstaff, I've somehow managed to gather three skill levels in it.

Are mummies hurt by steam? It kind of feels they shouldn't, seeing they're dessicated corpses that couldn't care less if all their proteins start denaturing, but the way the element system usually works in games, they might be extra-vulnerable to it. I've generally distilled all the corpses I've found made, and have like ten bottles of water.

Don't forget, you can eat any corpse that gives water, and water isn't very powerful, but useful if you have no poison.

Anything that is a poisonous corpse is good for potions, kobolds mostly in the starting levels.
Also, only 10 corpses?

I've been using the water, and occasionally eating the corpses too. :P

The potions of confusion you get from all the brown-tinted corpses are just excellent. I'm having a bit of a hard time telling poisoned and regular corpses apart, since I found a ring of poison resistance very early, but that's not enough of a problem for me to go rooting around the options for a way to change it.

Poison corpses names show up green.
Brown corpses are semi-poison, and give confusion.
Normal colored corpses give water.

Blade hands is, I do believe, the single most damaging ability in the game. When maxed out, I think it out DPS's any other melee build.

Also, ALWAYS wait for the corpses to rot, especially stronger corpses. Even edible corpses can give confusion when rotted, and a strong rotted poison corpse can provide greater poison potions. Especially useful for kobold rooms with big kobolds.

UNLESS you happen to have poison resistance, in which case poison corpses are also normal-colored. :)

Really? Huh. I didn't know that. Makes sense.

I knew it, but I never really felt like hauling around huge corpses all the time.
Maybe I should try it :-P

Mummies make fun transmuters. You have all the time in the world to wait for rotting.

As forsaken said, mummy transmuters can just wait. Even better, Vamp transmuters can bottle blood from anything, and blood is always either poison, steam, or fire.

http://crawl.chaosforge.org/index.php?title=Fulsome_Distillation

If the corpse is rotted, you have a 1/5 chance of getting the upgraded potion, even before spell power is taken into account. Or rather, you have a 1/5 chance of the potion not downgrading on you. Its a bit odd, but rotten = better.
