Actually, starting in 0.6.0, vampiric weapons no longer incure extra hunger. You do need to be satiated or better, and they take a bunch of extra hunger upon wielding.

EDIT: Turns out there's a wizard mode command the lets you run lots of acquirements and save the results to a file. Here's acquirements for a level 12 fire elementalist pale draconian who has no skills and was carrying no items.

First, I had no rings or amulets ID'd, although the big pile of them WAS on the same level as me, so that might of thrown off the results. I'll have to recheck this data later.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This was while I had all the amulets and rings ID'd.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Next, I ran a bunch of armor acquirements. Remember, draconian!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Then, 10000 weapon acquirements.

(Note: Vorpal is what the game calls "of crushing', "of piercing", "of velocity", ect. It does extra base damage.)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

EDIT AGAIN:

Here's a final result. I think it speaks for itself. The thought of a combined +28 weapon, especially if it's a Broad Axe or Exectioner's Axe, just scares the crap out of me, nevermind that it was probably BRANDED on top of that.

jewellery acquirement

       1. Grabs a jewellery base type, this has a 1 in 3 chance of being a amulet and a 2 in 3 chance of being a ring. If you've already identified that base type it will try again. It will continue this until it hits a type you have not yet identified or until it has tried 10 times.
       2. Rings of hunger and amulets of inaccuracy have a 92.09% chance of being randarts. Other jewellery has a 28.85% chance of being a randart. This is independent from the base type calculation, otherwise.

Edit: Just read through the changes that just happened and noticed that not only did they limit spammals to 2 per a casting, the spell no longer can summon green and orange rats! My main way of playing was nerfed even more then I thought.

which is the best demonspawn chaos knight god? if it helps, my playstyle is to fully explore each level of the dungeon for useful (useful items may no actually be useful) items. also, on an unrelated note, i hate snakes.

Makhleb.  Or Mahkleb.  I forget which.

His abilities are generally useful, while Xom's just a random stuff generator and Loguno does a bunch of horrible stuff.

You have to be at "Full", "Very Full", or "Satiated" hunger status to wield a vampiric weapon. Then, it takes away a large amount of nutrition upon wielding, but only that one time. After that, it no longer makes you hungrier faster like how it did in 0.5.2, where it caused you to burn nutrition over time by holding it in your hands.

Alright, first test with fresh character, using acquirement command via wiz mode to simulate using a scroll. First 48 12 randarts, 1/4 total. Second batch of 48, one identified ring, 14 randarts. Third batch, 20 already ided, 6 non ided, 22 randarts. Fourth batch, 17 IDed, 4 nonIDed, 27 randarts.

Does seem to increase as one ID's items, but not as much as I though. Note I was using a macro for that.

Edit: Further experimenting with Aquirement has found a Bow of Reaping. Specifically, any mob that gets killed by a shot from it, and leaves a corpse, becomes a friendly zombie. Think we found a new hydra killer here.

48 acquirements leaves a large margin of error, so I'll do more testing later. For now, I've just got myself intrinsic PR, so I've got to go clear Snake, Swamp, and Hive.

Each batch was 48 each. I would continue to run tests, but I ran out of item room on the level.

Edit: Spammals was only nerfed for player characters. Be VERY careful when fighting someone who has it.

Ah, I now remember how great DDNe are.  I'm on D5 and I've taken barely a point of damage so far.

Although... there's one rather significant problem with the build.  Namely, no way to deal with life protected monsters who aren't undead, ie imps.

Any suggestions?

Stock up on throwing weapons that don't break, daggers and clubs are good choices. The basic red ones are pretty easy since they keep blinking if you have ranged weps.

Actually, I just walked away from that last one, found a wand of frost and one shotted it.  Easy.  I can use Makhleb's abilities to help with later ones.

Speaking of which, is it just me, or has Makhleb's healing throw killing been removed, at least for Deep Dwarfs?
