I looked at Air miscast effect, and it does not list Intelligence loss :
http://crawl.develz.org/info/inline.php?q=air+miscast

Apparently, unless i missed one on the bot, the only spell schools that max miscast can remove stats points are poison and necromancy.

So losing 38 intelligence must be from something else as his character has Excellent at the only poison and necromancy spells he had, or it's a bug.

Tornado was probably Terrible because his int was 0/negative, rather than starting at terrible and therefore causing miscasts (even though, as you note, air miscasts don't cause int loss). If you had a crystal ball I'd wager a bad run at that would do it, although you're likely to notice losing int just once let alone enough to get negative from 38. I'm also pretty sure I've had energy ball failures drain more than 7 int, though I don't know what it'd fall under in the stat drain entry. But you don't have one so it wasn't the case either way.

I did have a crystal ball of energy, though :) But the worst thing I had seen from it was paralysis, never stat drain. And I don't recall using it then... hm. Could have been that, really. Kind of slipped my mind crystal balls can be devastating when handled moronically.

Oh well, a few crawl-free days await me. I might give SEEE a run again - last time it didn't really go over that well. "And for my next trick, I shall stand still and shoot a wand of random effects at these two orc priests! At xlvl 6! For about 12 turns! HURRR."

Oh, so you did. I was looking for it under Devices, not Misc.

It's pretty easy to lose a lot of Int with a crystal ball if you're using it wrong, don't have high Evocation skill, and/or you're not paying attention. Keep a close eye on that to prevent stat death.

Found a dragon hide on D:1. Is that normal? What magic is required to make it all sexy?

Yes in some cases randomness can give you some nice items very early.
For a dragon hide to shine to its potential, you need to use an enchant armor scroll.

Best armor i found on D:1 was a crystal armor in a previous version, very unfortunately i was playing a Spriggan wizard that not only is too small to use such armor, but couldn't wear it if i had any hope to cast a spell.

My best character was killed by one of my old transmuters who could barely cast a spell, but when he was a ghost he never miscasted and had all his potions. D:

Ghosts, as far as I know, never use potions at all. I've never seen them do it or seen them drop any. Something else was going on.

But yeah, they don't miscast.

Evaporate might have swapped out for something else like Mephetic Cloud. Or the monster version of evaporate doesn't need potions. God knows they can spam everything else you have.

Player ghost evaporate checks all the potions the player had and randonly picks one to evaporate. Of course, this doesn't use the potion up or anything.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Really? I thought it outright replaced it with mephitic cloud.

But then again nothing supports my theory - the wiki has a list of replaced spells and Evaporate isn't there. So I guess Mr. Person is right!

Fake edit : Wait, does that mean that it can potentially lob mutation potions at me? Because that would be ... inconvenient.

Evaporating mutation potions just produces a random cloud, not mutation gas. Although that would be awesome.

Could still be inconvenient. Random clouds include miasma (potential rot if not just slow) and mutagenic clouds.

Learndb's entry for Evaporate says ghosts get Meph Cloud, but it could be out of date.

The wiki can never be trusted to be right about anything. It's a mish-mash of stuff that was true in some random other version, or this one, or that was never true to begin with. It's not trustworthy.

This is almost definitely accurate.
