If nobody has heard, the tourney is coming up again this year!  Everybody get their game faces on, and start creating teams!

I'll be more than happy to participate in one of the better teams, I'm a damn good player, if I don't say so myself.

Well as long as they won't allow tilesets, I'm not participating...

haha, you just have to play online! Nobody said anything about no tilesets, Mindmaker.  (i mean, you'd have to program it yourself in the space of a month, but who's counting).  Hint: It requires a complete rework of the entire server-side coding, and therefore the entire crawl game.

"SNESlike"? I think the SNES was capable of much more than a grid of static tiles.

I know.
I use the term SNESlike in the context "basic graphics", since it was the first console I grew up with.

What are you talking about?

There has been a online crawl tiles version for a few months now.
Hey listen!

I used Nettiles during last year tournament, there were a few problems in the interface for selecting races/classes that were missing some entries, but the ingame was working nicely (though some tiles for the smokes were wrong).

Unfortunately, from the page linked it has not been updated since then, looks like the project is abandonned.

Additionally, Nettiles unfortunately couldn't use the very good interface that comes with the Tile version of Crawl, it used only the tilesets, so you were stuck with the less nice console interface.

I'm not sure if I'll play in this year's tournament. I only managed to play several games during last year's tourney.  :( Anyway, isn't the tournament in August? We didn't start forming teams until like a month before the deadline.

Woo, tourney time again. I think I did pretty well last year. Let's start with the same breakdown of teams.

Champions
Miners
Soapers

I think that was it, right? Along with the Immigrant team? Or did we have 5 total? I don't remember.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Did the elven halls get nerfed in trunk? I just finished elf 5 and already found the vaults and there's no staircase down.

The 2010 tournament thread was there :
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=61779.0

unless there's a new nettiles for 0.8, i'm not going to participate this year.

The elven halls has been shortened to 5 levels deep, yes.

It's just that everybody on the IRC channel is up in arms about the upcoming tourney.
