Apparently Dowan has special dialogue if you send his sister to the Abyss...

_Dowan says, "I will find her! I will get her back!"
Dowan screams as he is devoured by a tear in reality.
How about if you send Dowan to the Abyss? Does his sister do the same thing?

Hive isn't too hard with Mephitic Cloud... as long as you spam it generously and don't get poisoned. I would go Orc first, though. I would feel like shit if I found a random bazaar and didn't have enough gold to actually use it.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Really? Hive isn't too bad? I'll swing back and try it out.

Just hit the entrance to the Vaults on DL:18. Peeked in, couple of orc priests and a few wargs near by so I backed out. The lack of rPois is really annoying.

Good call. Wargs themselves do rPois. MephCloud is running out of gas, you're going to want to find a less resistable solution to your foes. Luckily for you, Nemelex is willing to help with that, but I'd feel better if you had more spellbooks.

I'd regret it, but I'd go take on Snorg. If you can levitate and position yourself somewhere where he can't melee you, you just have to MephCloud him til it takes and he drowns. If that's not an option, you might be able to just outrun him if you can keep him in water. I don't know for sure, though.

Sacrifice that amulet of the gourmand. It does nothing for Spriggans.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I had a half dozen spellbooks, but none that were worthwhile. Air, burglary, fire, warp, and wizardry. A useful spell or two in each, but nothing more effective then what I had.

Word of advice. If you find a volcano, pass it by. The loot sucks, and they are incredibly dangerous.

Additionally, i you don't have a see invisible way, it does not only make you a bit harder to hit (-35 % to hit for the monster attacking you), but give you a -5 malus to hit.
And after some turns being invisible (no idea how much), your magic contamination will have increased, making you glow. Meaning the monsters will hit you more easily.
The first bit... well, I use Spriggans, so not an issue :P.  The second part... well, same with haste.  Use it sparingly (most tough enemies can go down in one invisibility casting, in my experience).

And remember, most dangerous monsters and unique can actually see invisible.
Not most, but you definitely need to check before casting.

I think there's also a stealth boost, which can help.

Invisibility has a huge stealth boost (+75 iirc). Anyway, I wrote a HOPr guide and updated my OgWn guide. Yes, I know I write too many guides.  :P

Monster damage has a different and far more powerful formula then player damage. Why do you think even just Magic Dart from a ghost is so powerful.

Yes, monsters do not play on fair rules, they use overpowered spells and abilities in comparison to your poor player version.

One that has strongly annoyed me during the tournament when i was playing a summoner was that damned Snorg.
When i noticed him, i summoned lots of imps and animals and throw them to him while i ran away, Snorg went berzerk.
Once i was away, i went to walk around to see if i could find some teleportation scroll on the ground as i was out of them, several turns were spent moving arond so i imagined Snorg was far away now.

Then i noticed Snorg, always in Berserk state (berserk for monster stay up for longer than player berserk) appearing in a corner of a screen.

Considering he was berserk i couldn't hope to escape this time, in a few turns he would be on me and destroy my character with ease before i could summon enough meat shield... but suddenly he ceased to be berserk.

I was a bit relieved as i was expecting to be able to move away without a problem, because once someone go out of berserk state, he is afflicted by the slow state.
So i could finally get to the stairs.

But Snorg was not playing by the rules, as only 1 turn later ... Snorg went berserk, again.

Yes, he went berserk 2 times in a row, with only 1 turn between those 2 in which he was not berserk and in the turn his 1st berserking state disappeared, i didn't noticed any message claiming that Snorg drank a potion (the only way his slow state could have disappeared).

Something impossible for the player version, as when afflicted by Slow you can't Berserk again (unless you drink a speed potion to remove the Slowness).

Lost my character 2 turns later.

Monsters that go berserk don't get slow'd after the berserk wears off. Monster berserks also last MUCH longer than player berserks, like 50+ turns. Don't think of it as berserk, think of it as Snorg mighting and hasting himself. Ironically, that makes him tougher than that Okawaru-worshipping unique.

I think I'll go file a complaint on that one, actually, because it's just stupid.

Berserk enemies suck, period. I just lost a 14th level HeWz to that crusader dude unique. He walked through a poison cloud, got a max power sticky flame, took three iron shots (two # short of max power) and then killed me in one turn, even though I had Phase Shift on (30 EV). Just how the hell am I supposed to fight that? I don't think I could've dented him even if I was a lvl14 TrBe.

The moment an enemy goes berserk you're fucked, I was killing something (Probably a giant bat) and Xom made it go berserk (If I remember correctly) and BAM I die.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Mummies aren't as hard as people claim. It's a lot easier than playing as an ogre or demigod. I have more problems with the fire weakness then anything else. Refrigeration is extremely powerful and perfect for a mummy. It hits invisible and submerged monsters, makes no noise and the damage doesn't wake enemies up.  :D

On a positive note - I think Ensorcelled Hibernation beats the monster version.  My ghosts usually seem to fail to cast it on me.
