Ahhh I want Jivya to give me horns and claws >:C

Anyways, I've reached the vault and I think I'm going to retreat. Had close calls on the first floor. Sticky fire is proving essential in killing hydras and regenerating enemies, but I don't think I'll stay alive for much longer if I stay here. I'm going to backtrack and enter the lair.

I've bought me a scroll of aquirement and found me a mutating potion. I'm scared to use either :C

use the scroll before it gets burned by something, or leave it in a safe stash somewhere, but really nothing bad can happen from aquirement

I remember one of my run in which i found 3 scrolls of acquirement.
As at the time i had something else to worry and as i had no idea what they were used for, i completely forgot those scrolls... until some monsters throw lots of fire at me, and those scrolls were just dust.
Looking at the wiki, i understood that once found, it is always good to use them instead of waiting for the first insane fire maniac in the dungeon to burn them from your backpack.

The Lair is much, much, MUCH easier than the vaults.  If you've been clearing the vaults, you shouldn't have too much trouble there (toughest individual enemies are hydras, while the toughest enemy groups are Death Yaks).

Jiyva does sound awesome in the long run.  I mean, he gives mutations, which always stack together, and lets you cure bad ones (so you can eat mutagenic flesh carelessly, I guess).  On the other hand, he messes up all your items horribly.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

2nd Sprint win! Sprint isn't that difficult, but it's too random for my liking. I do like being able to cast Fire Storm at LV12 though.  :D

Yeah, Jiyva will give you 'good' mutations.  But he won't give you any that you can keep.  He'll constantly keep switching them out for new ones.  And quite often they won't really help you that much, like beaks for spellcasters or the ability to convert food to mana for a fighter.  While they're both 'good' mutations, they don't necessarily help.

You have to think on your toes with Jiyva.  You may find yourself changing significantly in the middle of a battle, finding yourself with an entirely new set of mutations that you'll need to find a use for, and damn quickly too.

Hmm... does he shuffle them out that quickly, then?

grants mutations too. Even more than Xom, and Jivya's mutations are more frequently good. There are a couple of muts that you can only get from Jivya

I have tried another online game with net tiles with a kobold assassin, got unfortunately killed on floor 9 confused first by some orc using a wand, while an orc wizard decided to blast me with magic dart several times without my character coming out of confusion.

Before reaching that unfortunate point, i enjoyed sneaking on an Ogre and killing it in one blow of the default +2,+2 dagger (found only bad weapons during this run).
I looked around the 1st floor of Orc Mines, but i was not yet at a level to attack it without worry.
Strangely i encountered absolutely no uniques.

The "gain power from killing" of Makhleb was very helpfull after a teleport that got me into a difficult situation, killing with lot of luck (was low in HP) a few enemies on the infested room healed me, allowing for another jump out of there while the monster were trying to kill my kobold.

For unknown reason, despite i was at stealth level 6 and was wearing no armor, i was "unstealthy" for most of the game, that was a big problem when sneaking around, leading me to run away often from big monster i could kill in 1 stealth-hit, but who would have been dangerous in an open combat.

But for those playing online, often during the game i had awfull lag with net tiles (does not happen in the regular tile version) making the game experience more annoying than fun, does it happen for you too on net tiles or the console version ?
If it was a real time game i could understand, but lag on a turn-based game ?

Your Stealth skill is low. I'd turn off Short Blades at 10 and Throwing at 5. Makhleb is best for hybrids and races that have healing problems. Maybe you should try Okawaru or Zin. I do experience lag, but it's very rare. It nearly caused me to lose a few times.

How far should I take longblades? I'm using a greatsword so the extra speed really helps, but I'm also raising quite a few magic skills along with stealth, fighting and dodge.

Depends on how much you use it. Personally, I would save most of my Exp for Dodging, Fighting, and Armour. Anything not spent on that I would put into spellcasting skills that need them. Of course, I also would of not used a greatsword since as a draconian, you really, really, really want to use a shield to make up for your lack of armor slots, but that's just me. I'm a huge fan of shields, so I might be a bit biased.

Yeah, go to Lair. Now. You're supposed to do Lair first, then do Orc, then do Vaults. Doing Orc first is crazy, man, lot of respect for doing Orc first. Nothing in Lair is difficult once you have sticky flame. Dunno about the breath, but I've killed hydras in one cast.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I've found that Orc isn't too bad to dive into the first level, especially if you have Mephetic cloud at a good level, and definitely if there is something you want to buy in a shop. Just pop down, and if there are too many, pop back up. Oh, and if you have Alistair's at a good level, its always worth a dive to at least orc:1 when you find it.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

I can't take shields since I'm also making use of unarmed attacks along with greatsword slices, which makes me considerably scary in melee. Anyway, Orc isn't terribly hard on the first and middle levels, it only gets scary on its last levels, and even then only if you're mostly melee. Thanks to sting, airstrike, mephitic cloud and my sticky breath I got some decent ranged abilities to back me up. And yea, hydras are piss easy if you have sticky breath, just spit on them and kite untill they're dead. I killed a +10 head hydra with two shots.

Anyway, I think my luck is running out, I'm level 14 and I'm finishing the lair, but due to being careless I got swarmed twice and almost got killed. If I lose I'll be tempted to savescum, I like this character alot. My next character will probably be a draconian aswell, I have a newfound respect for draconians. I'm a level 14 monk with decent air\poison\conjurations, 11 long blades + 10 unarmed strike +12 dodge and around 8 stealth and 111 HP.

What I really want now is to find an artifact sword and go to the slime pits to find the altar to jivya. Its probably a journey of no return, but If I succeed it'll be awesome.

Please tell me what gods apart from Chei lets you turn your weapons into artifacts. I just accidentally pumped my greatsword to +5 +6 by reading a powerful scroll of enchant weapon and a scroll of vorpalize weapon I had not identified or read before.

Chei is the only god who can turn your armor into artifacts. Your sword is already immune to corrosion, however, and there tends to be enough junk randarts lying around to cover up in Slime. Just go through the Vaults:1-7 and Crypt:1-3 then dive down into the dungeon hoping for a random Jivya altar. That's my advice if you're really dead-set on getting Jivya.

Chei isn't that bad even if you can only have a limited number of ponderous slots. You really don't want to be THAT slow or else everything becomes scary. You only get resistances for the first three ponderous slots anyways and stats aren't a huge deal.
