I think the best I've got on Dungeon Crawl was a Minotaur Berserker (I know, easy mode much?). I got to about level 15 or so, entered the orc mines and ripped and tore hordes of orcs till I got to about the fifth level, when finally my +5 or something ridiculous huge battle axe + Berserk + being a huge, high-level minotaur was just not enough for the infinite horde of well-armed and armoured orcs.

My actual FAVOURITE character was a spriggan fighter (not even kidding you, this was a dare). Despite the fact that I was a tiny-ass spriggan, couldn't wear any even half-decent armour and had to run away from ~50% of the battles I ran into, I did manage to clear out a whole gnoll fortress with ease and make it to about level 12 or something. I think there was a fire monster of some sort that killed me. Sonuvabitch.

You should go back to the temple and pick a god ASAP. You want to reap the benefits of your god as soon as you possibly can. There's no reason at all to wait. If you do find a Jivya altar, don't worry. Most of the god wraths aren't too bad. In particular, TSO doesn't mind you leaving him since Jivya's not evil. On the other hand, Zin does mind since Jivya is chaotic and won't hesitate to send demons and insects after you. Okawaru's wrath is pitiful, just walk away and the guys he sends will disappear on their own.

Just so you guys know, Orc only has four levels and Elf:1-6 would remain difficult up until you're around level 20.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

:C Alright, I'll head back to the temple. Probably picking TSO for now.

In other news, I found me another beehive, I have about 41 honeycombs by now :o , but it doesn't matter since this amulet of gourmand I've been wearing keeps well fed at all times, so I can abuse sticky flame breath :P

Overall, Draconians seem much better then I thought them to be. The breath weapon really comes in handy, sticky flame is just stupidly useful.

By the way, any suggestions on what spells I should look foward to? Of course I don't expect to be able to use Iron Bolt reliably or anything, but anything else to make up for my lack of ranged attacks?
Atm I have a book of tempests, a book of geomancy and a book of stalking.

Learn Mephitic Cloud and Sting (unless you worship TSO, of course, so I might take back worshipping TSO. It's a tough call, that's for sure. With all that food, I would take Fedhas myself. Sticky flame foe, hide behind a wall of water. Win! If that don't work, make an Oklob. Of course, Fedha's wrath is nasty: Summon hostile Oklobs and wandering mushrooms, so I dunno man). If you find any of the following spells, learn them ASAP: Abjuration, Summon Butterflies, Blink, Berserker Rage, Dispel Undead. If you find Teleport Self, Controlled Blink, Deflect Missiles, or Haste, strongly consider spending some Exp raising up the skills you need until you can cast them reliably.

Anything else is total discretion, but don't be surprised of you don't cast a lot of magic since most low level spells are lackluster and your melee damage is taking care of everything. Most of the spells I've listed are helper spells that take care of problems or are just generally useful for killing your foes.

Spammels is also good if you can't find butterflies. Likewise, Regeneration can be a great blessing if you have necromancy. But yeah, those spells he listed are pretty much the best easy spells out there.

Others that are good are Alistair's intoxication, Apportation, Repel Missiles, and Swiftness, the last being lesser used if you can reliably cast haste, but it doesn't give glow.

I've come to the conclusion that Sigmund is rather weak. It's just the confusion +invis+ firebolts that do early characters. But if you confuse him first, or manage to get into pummeling range, he's toast. He doesn't deal enough damage to be a threat in that regard (whereas ogres and other high-damage guys still deal enough damage to pwn you even after confusing them, if you engage them in close range.

I've come to that conclusion a few times, and he tends to kill my characters soon after. He's probably killed more of my characters than almost every other hero-type guy. I haven't had any characters killed by Prince Ribbit... usually by mid game, you've got a few potions of speed or wands of confusion to survive those guys. I'm mostly scared of that guy with the staff, forgot his name, but he appears at the edge of some woods.

You know, I've never been killed by Crazy-Yieuf. Every time I encounter him I'm either a berserker or a fire elementalist.. and he simply doesn't have enough health to put his chaotic quarterstaff to good use in those scenarios. The cloak and staff acquisition is REALLY nice for early game magic users though. And.. he always seems to have hammers in his den. A lot of hammers.  ???

Well, my best run ever ended when a centaur warrior somehow shot me for 40 damage while confused :/.  Yeah, I should've kept deflect missiles on.

Yikes.. that's a fairly lame death right there.

One of my best runs ever recently ended as well, however it was a great death. He was a level 14 Hill Orc Berserker with an amazing double headed axe. It was given to him by Trogg and had +13 damage on it, plus it was enchanted with lightning. Needless to say everything sort of crumbled before him. I could take out hydras in one or two blows while enraged. Anyway I went down into the Elven Halls and planned on clearing to floor 7 (I ALWAYS get destroyed by the summons down there.. master archers? pfft. Fiery demonic death is more like it).
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Anyway it was an epic battle, and we were both really close to dying, but he ended up finishing me off with a spell. I blame that death on hubris.. I could have summoned help, but nooooo. I did use the resist magic ability though. Didn't help much.

My best run so far ended with a stray firebolt from an orc wizard. I was  in D14 :(

Ahhh I want Jivya to give me horns and claws >:C

Anyways, I've reached the vault and I think I'm going to retreat. Had close calls on the first floor. Sticky fire is proving essential in killing hydras and regenerating enemies, but I don't think I'll stay alive for much longer if I stay here. I'm going to backtrack and enter the lair.

I've bought me a scroll of aquirement and found me a mutating potion. I'm scared to use either :C
