What are your favourite race\role combinations? Personally I really like sludge elf transmuters. That and and ghoul chaos knights of Lugonu.

...Woah.

TrBe just went berserk and killed an Iron Devil and a Demonic Crawler.  At level 5.

I have 983xp points, and 775 of those came from the two monsters I just killed...

Those Troll Berserker are way easier than any characters, it's nearly unstoppable early and they are certainly the only characters i never died early with, and thanks to his ability to eat whenever he wants, even rotten food, food is not as a problem as one may fear from his ever increasing hunger.
Though in some places it will remain a big problem (slimes/crypts) and you can get your Troll dead starving if you have no large amount of permanent food in your backpack.

On my first game with the 0.7.0 RC i cleaned every floor, the 1st Orc mines without much effort, and died because of hubris in the 2nd Orc mines floor (surrounded by many monsters, i didn't even try to escape despite i could at anytime, and another Troll managed to deliver the final hit to my character).

Just died of hubris against a yak, yeah.  I have a feeling if you could eliminate hubris the troll berserker is basically a guarenteed win :P.

I guess the thing is they have loads of hp, but such poor EV/ AC that they are relatively squishy anyway.

There should be a unique mob named Hubris.

Would be the most dangerous of them, considering that's certainly one of the main reason every characters die :D

It's especially true for the TrBe, though.

I mean, you can berserk against almost any enemy and kill them easily, or use Trog's Hand if they're a spellcaster, or even call in some ridiculously powerful buddies (who have a tendancy to own hydras in 2 or 3 hits).  But no, you're convinced you CAN kill that group of monsters with no help from Trog.

Also, Pikel just made me gain 3 levels (5, 6, 7).  I think his xp value might need adjusting.

EDIT: The Hubris NPC should start off really weak and become very powerful as his HP drops.

Nah, he should be found on any level of the dungeon, and scale based on your stats. Fighting and Longblades very high? High HP and a randart katana. Just starting caster? He spams butterflies and the occasional mammal.

Heh...

You know that large crowd of yaks that is usually the death of a caster in the lair?  Yeah, the one that manages to catch you in a position where you have no chance of finding a chokepoint?

Well, turns out just bringing in a brother in arms and going berserk is the solution.  7 out of 8 yaks dead in 5 turns, the last one left running for its life.  BiA and berserk are a potent mix...

Mephitic cloud is another, better, solution.

Actually a troll is stronger than a yak and will kill the yak anytime on one-on-one.
The main problem with the yak as a monster is that it is never alone, you always have to deal with 5 or 6 of them.

And as a pak they're really dangerous at the level you are when you usually meet them for the 1st time.

And the yaks are Yaks. I mean, your crusing, you see what looks like a sheep, then blam, half your health is gone. Its the furry assassin of the Lair.

I'd like more item interactions, myself. IE: being able to temporarily brand weapons with poison using a poison potion, set clubs on fire to make torches, use piles of stones to build barricades in corridors, etc...

Even the berserk ogres can slay several yaks before going down... berserk is a really awesome status.  And, since it's on a temporary ally, you don't have to suffer the after effects of it.

Orc was a total massacre.  The best one was the one where 4 orc priests were in sight (with a bunch of other rubbish) when going up the stairs... so I went berserk.  When you have this many meatshields, Trog will extend the duration again and again.  I think I killed about 30 before it ended (due to a distinct lack of living enemies, heh).
