...I hate Vehumet. I joined him, so then he lights his altar on fire and kills me.
I hate you!

Only two of the bad effects are horrific, one, the mutation potion, could provide something nice, and there is a small chance of getting +stats.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

NO! Several of my tips got nerfed!  :( Bah! I'll find another way to worship a good god as a lich.

Anyway, a tournament in August sounds interesting. A Bay12 team sounds like fun.

I play fire elementalist a LOT but I'm not really a good player. I mean I play constantly, but whenever I reach that mid to end game wall I just sort of flop. If I'm not dead from something silly, I just don't want to go on anymore because I feel like I have no chance in hell.

So anyway, when you say you're going for some important spells, what would they be? If anybody else can answer this too then I'd be grateful. In fact as a fire elementalist, I focus only on fire/conjuration schools, I never branch out. Ever. Is this bad? What should I branch out to, and when, if anything? And are there any tips that can be repeated for somebody who just can't push out of the "easy" section of the game even if he wanted to?

I don't save scum either. I tried it but it made the game boring, so I immediately stopped.

Useful spells:

Iron Shot - Very powerful, but inaccurate. This should be your main attack spell for the end-game.
Mystic Blast - Use this on any creature that resists your fire spells. I consider this to be a staple mid-game spell.
Sticky Flame - Efficient killing spell for most of the mid-game. It starts to become less useful when stroger monsters start appearing (like yaktaur captains and stone giants).
Haste - Train enchantments to 15 for this spell. It doubles the speed of your actions.
Blink - Spell casters shouldn't let monsters get close to them.
Apportation - I love grabbing the Orb without confrontation. It's a nifty spell with a lot of uses.
Repel Missiles - You need a spell like this. Keep it active at all times. Upgrade to Deflect Missiles if you can.
Regeneration - Reduce your resting time.
Swiftness - Travel around the dungeon faster.
Selective Amnesia - Forget a spell and learn a new one.
Mephitic Cloud - Overpowered spell.
Levitation - Travel across deep water and lava without dying.
Extension - Keep your buffs on permanently.

1. How do I break glass walls? Wand of Digging?
2. Is it worth breaking a glass wall to get a "Fountain of Sparkling Water", and what does this fountain do?

1. Lee's Rapid Deconstruction
2. No, it causes random potion effects.

I'm game. I've been doing FAR better then I have been lately, so if there's an open spot, I'll probably jump in.

Oh, I just started a Deep Elf Wanderer. Started with 4 spellcasting, 4 enchantment, 2 fire magic, Shock memorized, and a book of Minor magic, Summon variety. This might be fun.

Thanks for the help.

Also, I still hate Vehemet.

And that blue g of doom. I trapped him behind a Conjure Flame, sent a FULL MP BAR OF MAGIC MISSILES AND THROW FLAME, and still he killed me. Damn..

A tournament might be nice, but the most I can do is get to the lair, so I'd be a waste of a spot on the team. :p
I shall train! :p

Invisible things suck when they aren't behind a flame.
They tend to kill me a lot..

EDIT: I just remembered you can spellcast without monsters there. Should I be doing this when there is invisible people?

Staff of Wizardry on D:2, right next to a Ring of See Invisible. I also read-IDed Scroll of ID on the first try. I have the feeling this game will be lucky.

Nevermind. I found a Sigmund...maybe with see invisible...and MC...Wish me luck..

EDIT: HELL YA! I combined a Conjure Flame and MC..he went around a corner and I was low on MP, so I hit the 5 button, regained all MP..MC'd him again, and Throw Flamed him to death. Sweet, sweet victory.

..............
STUPID FLIPPING GHOST.

Fire Elementalist ghost, it summoned tons of Spammals, along with some fireballs. I killed the ghost, but his summons raped me. Hate chu!

And sure, I'll try a couple wanderers. But I've had bad experiences with them...

Thats why I delete the bones file EVERY time.

Incidentally. 7 spellcasting, 2 conjuration, Minor magic, flame wanderer. I started with more spell slots then my starting book required.

Remember this Cuare tipped needle [Is that how you spell it?]+Sigmund=Dead Sigmund
Also has anybody else realised that the area around altars is usualy strange?I once saw a Trog altar with a book of clouds next to it [I had a scroll of blink and saved it before it was destroyed]and I think Kiku or somebody has a gas chamber altar [a room with one space in it and a human inside of it trapped in there with a lot of foul misama, they die and turn into a zombie]

Yeah, I've been running into a lot of areas like that. One had a bear and a honeycomb in a cave looking setup, Xom alters in the dungeon are almost always completely random. Those Trog alters are just there to mock you though.
