Personally, I think the current Lair is really easy and an obvious no-brainer to do it first or second.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

My problem with sorcerers isn't that they're dangerous, it's that I go downstairs and immediately get paralyzed and beaten to death. Nothing wrong with losing a confrontation that you should have known better than to enter. Valve put it best in their discussion about the Sniper - nothing frustrates a player more than dying to something they couldn't control.
Ah yes, from that angle indeed i agree that's extremely frustrating.

Though i am not sure how this frustrating kind of thing (as it is never fun when it occurs) could be fixed. Because this is the result of a combination of bad luck in both the random generations of both the maze and the random location of the monsters that put such a paralyze capable monster that near to the stairs and that launch a successfull paralyse spell that manage to pierce through your current maic resistance level.

Maybe in the random monster generation, removing the possibility of a paralyze-capable monster in the immediate vicinity of the stairs in the 1st floor loading may be possible,
I don't know if the dev team is open to suggestions, but seems like a good one, because i can't imagine any player that would find "fun" to be paralyzed on the spot just by arriving on a new floor without being able to do anything.

note : instead of save scumming, you can select to enter the wizard mode at any time by pressing the & key and accepting the wizard mode.
In this mode, when your character is killed, you can decide to not accept its death and revive him immediately where he stands.

I can think of two good ways to solve the paralysis problem. Either make the spell take multiple rounds to cast, thus removing the problem with being paralyzed before you even know there's a paralyze capable monster nearby or give the player a saving throw based on their highest attribute every round to reduce the duration. Either that or up the cost of paralyze capable monsters so they don't get placed in giant packs of orc warriors.

Back on topic though, I drank a potion of mutation and gained tough skin, agility (which bumped up my evasion), and carnivore. Best potion ever.

Mutations can be very fun.
It's not everydays you can have a troll berzerker capable of this :

I miss that troll, lost it in revisiting the last Vault floor to see if i could find another golden dragon for its skin.

Yea, my last troll got lucky and found some golden dragon armor, plus one of the skin mutations. I think I lost him on Elf:7, many times.

Raided hive. My Eveningstar of Holy Wrath is now +3/+7. Gotta love all the scrolls of enchant weapon. Also found a cloak of preservation and a metric ton of honycomb and royal jelly. Awesome.

Edit: Food is a bit awkward. I just ate a whole yak and I'm barely full.

I am pretty sure that I have found non-glowing/rune weapons which were magical.

Regular items can be enchanted, but only glowing/runed/whatever items can have egos such as "of magic resistance" or "of holy wrath".

Non-glowing/runed items can be enchanted, but they rarely go past +1. Runed, at least the ones I found in orc, tended to be +0/-1, so don't get your hopes up. Glowing, on the flipside, tend to have at least one +1, with the very rare chance of a powerful enchanted item (glowing dwarven platemail turned out to be +4 of fire resistance). Shiny tends to be hardcore awesome, so if you see one get it.

If you want to be through, gather up all the weapons you find, and drag the pile with you. When you get a detect curse, pick up the pile and read it. Drop anything cursed, then equip everything. If anything has a brand, you'll find out.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Just be careful, weapons branded with distortion are a bit... dangerous to unequip.

Found the Orc Mines for the first time, was doing awesome, found 3 shops, and was an Ice Wizard.

There were TONS of them around the stair. I went over one square to what I thought was an up stair (But it was a down stair. FACE-DESK!). Then instead of going down I went back to the up stair. A single Orc Knight followed me. Instead of running, I tried to spell him to death with some Throw Ice. Instead he 2 hit killed me. (Including my drinking a potion of healing before the second hit.)

Randarts have their name in bright white while regular items are in a light blue. Sadly, sometimes randarts get generic descriptions like "shiny", "glowing", or even sometimes "runed". Also, I think the kind of descriptor on the item has no impact on the actual quality of the item, but I could be wrong about that. I'm just not sure, really.

I just had my third best run with a centaur monk. Died on D12 to an elephant slug. The only two characters better were a Mountain Dwarf Berserker, who died to poison and a Spriggan Venom Mage who died of asphyxiation.
