Observation:
It's fairly common in crawl to have water or magma separating the player from some radically OOD monster(s). You know what never hurts? Practice your magic on them-- See if you can find one you can hurt, or better yet one you can confuse enough to fall into the water or magma. Often the pile of XP in your pool and levels can be a real game changer in the early game.

Anyway, moving along...

i usually spend all mi money once before doing orcs for example, guess i have beter luck with shops.
sometimes i see a litle iland full of demos who cant do nothing more than die if you have any range atack to kill them.
there is an iron demo(not killable)  an orange demon and a green demon. both worth 2 lvls of xp on a human at the time u usually meet this vault, and a bunch of lesser demosn like iron imp manes or lemures. but again, it needs a lot of range projectiles and worths using Ctrl+f "arrows "stones " bullet "darts etc... and turn off the projectile skill so you don waste your precius exp pool on those skills unless you want to.... aniway, is just much bether if you are good at conjurations.

WAHHHH!

I got a +12,+16 {+MUT -Stealth Curse) (!!) Long Sword.
As a High Elf Crusader. (So I was skilled with Long Swords. I found this on like D:3)

The curse was annoying, but didn't apply to me since I died shortly after from a stupid Orc Wiz.
...

DAMN ORCS NEED TO DIEEEEE!

I wouldn't use that sword. +MUT is really, really, really annoying in the long term unless you unwield it a lot of wear an amulet of rMut all the time.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Mutagenic radiation is irritating, even if you have an amulet. The resistance isn't complete, and it also gives you the stupid magical corruption energy stuff, meaning you're constantly glowing.

Mutagenic radiation is irritating

I enjoy the fact that this statement can be made.

I enjoy the fact that the name of that sword is Plutonium, so... :O bad...
never ever use +mut. breaks characters, is but the worst part is that they usually are great items.

mi crusader stills on foot :D i have snakes rune, vaults rune, and slime pit rune.

slime pits... is... horrible now... those walls!!! THOSE WALL!!!

i entered with 24 ac... got aout with 9 ac... had Rcorr+ and i swear i didnt get corroded neither by acid blobs or the red slimes. At the beggining the walls didnt do no harm and i was happy all arround but there was a lot of times were you cant aboid pasing trhou a tunel just to go down and at the end... is just crazy dmg every turn (with no AC) so, dont go without having randarts in every armor slot, not even 1 couse for example i ended with a -4 cloack and glove. and they end killing your AC, and if you want them out then you have a free slot to get splashed by acid and the pain hurts and the hurt damages and the damage duele and duele means you got to rest so then you rest just to find out that tham eye give you lightning fast metabolism and you runed of food... start way back, acid!! arhjggkdjflasdf nearly starved to death.
also, i need to sleep. or work... maybe when i get out of here i share a dump of my character.

I think that plutonium sword is like Mut+++++.

As for slime, wands of digging, enlarge corridors as you go.

I never could get further than around level 10. One of my best characters was a Hill Orc Priest; formed a massive army at the orc mines, then got slaughtered in the elven halls. :(

I wouldn't set foot in the Elf Halls until I was level 20 at least if not more.

I wouldn't dream of setting foot in Elf without Abjuration if I was a spellcaster or Warding if I wasn't.
