Just a word of advice - Summon Greater demon? Don't. Unless you find yourself thinking that the current bad situation you're trying to escape from will only be improved by the addition of a hostile Executioner.

So I need some advice of my own.

Do y'all think I could cheese my way into a few more runes by going Evocations and switching to TSO, or should I just get my standard 5 runes and win?

Summon Greater demon? Don't.
I'm not on your side here. Casting Greater demon is not basically a bad idea. It is an idea you must think about. You don't cast it when you see it's going to be a specially hard battle. You cast it before. And you prepare for it, too.
freeformschooler, at your skills, it has 10% of summoning an hostile demon, and most ofthem should be able to take 50% of your life away, or kill you if lucky. In your position, I would cast it before entering Orc:4, and before going for the "vault" in Orc:4 (the special area with stone walls, guaranted to generate the high level enemies). But before casting it, I would summon a 3-4 lesser demons (and kill the hostile ones), make sure there are at least 2 damage dealer and 1 summoner in those (smoke/red are dmg-dealer, pink/blue are sumonners), and get on a stair or near a wall corner (to break line of sight). If you summon an hostile Executionner or Balrog, you flee (the lesser ones will slow him), the other can be killed (but they're summons, so no XP => no need to kill em).
The greater demons can really bring a superior firepower in Orc:4.
Also, when clearing Orc:4, read a scroll of magic mapping when you can (when not fired at). the X (with CAPS) to find a strange area, and type 'e' to exclude it and the surronding area. You want to clear the rest ofthe level before going there, and lure at least 15 eneies outside of it (using "t" -> "t" to shout when near) before going in. There is no need to be on sight of 20-30 orc with half of them high level, when you can prevent it ;)

I just found a second entrance to the mines, guarding orcs and everything, and was like, "whaa?" The entrance itself was a mimic.

That strategy for Greater Demon sounds good. I wouldn't have gotten through Lair:8 without it, but I did not know the hostile chance. Mines: SOON. Thanks again! :D

I agree about Greater Demon. Just use it wisely and it can make difficult fights trivial.

The bot does not mention it, just telling "decreases with higher spell power" but is it possible to nullify with enough spellpower the chances of the summon turning hostile ? (a bit like you can nullify hunger costs for a specific spell level with enough Spellcasting skill and Intelligence)

Welp, my Lava Orc Berserker with that Vampiric Battleaxe I mentioned earlier died. Apparently the game can generate two water branches--shoals and swamp-- instead of a water branch and poison branch in Lair. I died trying to get the Swamp rune. It was a cheap-ass cheap vault that forces you to go through clouds of miasma and fight a bunch of zombie hydras, wisp, phantoms, insubstantial hydras, a death drake, and all in a cloud of frikkin miasma poison shit that poisons you, slows you, and causes stat drain for every turn you're in it.

I tried using a wand of digging to circumvent the path, but nothing happened. Either the wand of digging that was supposedly recharged had no charges or the walls couldn't be dug through. LAAAAAAAAME. I should've gone berserk or something while fighting everything, since Brothers in Arms failed to give me anything helpful to fight off everything.

That was a really stupid vault for a rune. forcing the player to go through a travel excluded area? Really? At least the ice caves let me dig through it. Ugh.

Spoiler: Whatever. YASD. (click to show/hide)

The bot does tell the failure rate.
Quote from: Knowledge bot
Summons a temporary executioner, green death, blizzard demon, balrug, or cacodemon. Hostility chance is reduced (but never to 0) by invocations skill. Hostile if 1d(20 + Invocations * 3) <= 4 (e.g. 1/5 at 0 skill, 1/11 at 8 skill, 1/17 at 16 skill).
So no, you can never get it to 0, but you can get it pretty small.

And by the way, Robsoie : even if it is "spellpower", it's an invocation. As such, only the invocation affect it, not spellcasting nor intel. No god ability is affected by intel nor spellcasting.

IIRC the Shield of the Gong is insanely loud.  Like, Shatter loud.  Literally everyone on the level can hear it.

First time beating Orc! That was hilariously easy. Only a last-ditch Orc Knight swarm provided any trouble. I guess after orc, it's time to go for runes? The branches I can see are Swamp, Spider Nest, Elven Halls, and Slime Pits.

Go for swamp, then dungeon dive/depths until you get some rP, and maybe sInv.

I actually already have rP and sInv. There was a helmet at the end of Orc with sInv. Should I still go to Swamp first?
