Yep, that's ok for trove.
My first (and the only) treasure trove required horn. I am not an experienced player, but I killed Geryon in that game.
Anyway it is better to SHOW the horn than to GIVE 2 potions of cure mutation.

Or than wandering in the abyss for 4 hours to gather the 6 missing potions of healing missing (game generated only 5 in the other branches, and as a DD I only used my wand) ... :D

Just had an awesome moment in the swamp when Saint Rokka ran into a teleport trap and appeared practically on top of my Deep Elf Conjurer. I managed to make short work of him and then defeat his war party as they ran to reunite with his corpse in ones and twos. Hate to think what would have happened if I met all of them at once.

Donald is still skulking somewhere on the level though. Not sure what I can do about him, since he can reflect or block my most potent attacks.

Depends. If you are branching into ice/air, you can use clouds. If you are branching into fire, you can use fireballs/sticky flame. Plain conjuration, prism spam. Earth, LRD. Necromancy, swams of zombies. Summoning, simply swam him.

So yeah, every school has spells that can roast him pretty well, even ignoring the 9th level spells.

Even if you fail to kill him, Donald is really pretty useless unless you stand next to him, so you can just run away and try again from another staircase, just don't get reflected to death.

He didn't actually have a reflecting shield, so poison arrow finished him quite easily. Also: holy shit, why are all the uniques vising the swamp? Swamp 3 had Saint Rokka, Donald, and Agnes. Nikola and Louise were on swamp:2 and Aizul, Frances and Norris are still running around on that level.

Was playing a DEAE and managed to get down to D:4. Autoexplored through a door with an Unseen Horror behind it which ripped me apart in a few turns.

I really, really fucking hate vaults like that. Why do that so early?

Mystic Blast is my go-to for Wisps; they go down pretty readily to non-elemental spells. And yes, I typically get OOD to a castable state before rushing Firestorm, it's crazy handy against even the toughest of uniques, assuming you can get them in an open area to make up for the Orb's odd travel. Poison Arrow's great, just not in Swamp or Snake.

Bump the thread? Bump the thread.

My Lava Orc Berserker  found a +10+6 randart war axe with chopping, resist poison, resist fire, resist negative, and +1Dex. It is the almighty war axe of Bread.

...Most unfitting randart name I've ever heard. Seems useful for Lair and the poison branch though, I've yet to get another source of rPois. Also the most enchanted axe I've found yet, aside from the +1+4 antimagic broad axe Trog gave me.

Bread is common American slang for Money which is (rarely) used as slang for good or great.

So what do you think about a new race coming into DCSS - Vinestalkers?
I think they are pretty unique in their playstyle and seems like a nice mix between Dj and DD. Blade hands transmuters could be the first choice for them.
-3 HP and no regen from pots/wands is the most glaring flaw of them.

...FRIG. What a weak way to lose a character who killed fucking Cerebov. Hell, he only had 6 runes: that doesn't even break my personal record!

YASD, no less. I drowned because Lom Lobom's Tornado swept me out over deep water, I forgot I can't actually run against the wind, I wasn't able to run with the wind because there was a wall in the way, I could have used a Blink Scroll to try and get clear of the Tornado, I could have read the teleport scroll as soon as the 'nado went up, I could have kept a source of Flying (had both a ring and I think an amulet at one point,) I could have kept those boots of flying I traded for boots of running way the hell earlier in the dungeon... AAAAAAH SO MAD AT MYSELF FRIG!

So as someone that recently got back into crawl, can someone explain some things for me?

I get the new races, lava orcs have a temperature mechanics, ant people have the handedness gimmick, gargoyles... as far as I can tell are just sorta tanky tengu, djinn have essence instead of normal HP/MP, etcetc

Have there been any new gods since ashenezari? I think that was the last new one I saw.

On a romp through the dungeon I saw an altar to a shadow god I think it was, what's he all about? I'm on trunk, incidentally.

Well hello there Crawl thread!

Heard there's been a ton of changes, and decided that hey, I'm getting sort of bored with Tome, why not come back to the best Roguelike out there!

So I slapped together a MfGl, went DithBongos since I found an altar on D:2, and just got to the Lair in time to find a +6/+9 Randart Trident of Speed, which should keep me from falling apart for a while.

Not really sure on MongoBongos, the Umbra is nice, I have a shadowstep which I haven't been able to use yet, and apparently I bleed smoke, which actually saved my life. I ran into Erolcha, who nearly instagibbed me with a bolt of lightning, but I was able to fart enough gas to conceal me while I tele'd away. Of course he won't ever be a good god for my build, but I want to see all the new things, and MfGl with some charms should be enough for 4-5 runes anyway. He really does have a stupid name, though.

Heard the dungeon's been restructured a bit, can't wait to see how that goes. Hopefully this dude survives long enough.

Also highfive Seriyu! If anyone explains the new thingies I'd like to join in on the listening, since I've been out of the loop from the last tourney onwards.

I'll say one thing, it's really nice to not have a turn take like 5 seconds to process!

edit : Welp, through a combination of DeathMangos and my rather strong equip, I've tabbed my way through to the entrance of the Depths, Orc:3 [since St Roka is chilling on 4] and about to dive into the Shoals.

Tried Shadowstep once, stepped into Erolcha's shadow and stabbed her dead. Not really my thing, but it appears that there's a passive ability whereupon my shadow hits alongside me every time I hit, which seems nice. No idea of the damage it's doing, but hey - company's always welcome.

I really like the Umbra, though. With rMissiles few things are even close to hitting me.
