Ok, finished the first "phase" of the story (ie up to the bit where L dies).  Hmm... after that footwashing scene I suddenly find myself looking for other biblical references.  Ah well.

Up till now though, at least, Light Yagami's been acting pretty smart.  His plan for eliminating Rem, Wattari and L was pretty clever, and it took me quite a while (and sitting down and drawing a diagram) to work out what he was doing passing around the Death Notes.

Slightly odd how the storytelling style seems to change though... hmm.  I guess it needs to put some focus on Mello and Near now that they've taken on the antagonistic roles.

They had to make Light stupid in the second part, because if he hadn't gotten stupid then he would have won.

Well, finished watching now.  Not sure whether ending was happy or sad, but...

Now, as for Light's stupidity... I'm really not sure.  He put too much trust in Mikame, a man with the right motivation but without any tactical thinking.

Beyond that, I guess however many years of being the unchallenged God of the world makes ya a bit complacent in "victory" .

It isn't supposed to be that Light became stupid.

It was supposed to be that he became decedant

When he was up against L he was a lot more careful to a fault. (though realistically if L wasn't so bent on following certain proceedures he could have put Light away rather early)

Well it is part musical. Though it is a bit WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too pop, as in too many references to other anime, for me. Though it could be worse, Hyate was even more pop but it would bleep it out.

My friend would argue that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is the best anime ever.

Personally, I don't know what I would call the best anime. Maybe Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Hmm... I do currently have a policy against watching anime where all of the main characters are little girls.  Perhaps I'll remove this policy at some point .

Yes.  My friend's description of K-On is disturbing me more and more.

Plus something tells me I'd miss the references in Lucky Star.  Heck, the only reference I got while watching Haruhi was the obvious Ace Attorney one.

For my Best Anime Ever... It's hard... best comedy? Probably Haruhi.
