Well, you have options once you finish. You can reread it! Or watch the anime. Find or create fanfiction. indulge in the fairly copious amount of porn wait no. Talk about the themes and plot with people! Find something else to consume. Or none of those and go find something else to do with your time. The horizons are broad and your choices as wide as the skyline, plus or minus however many choices pairs flowery language down to reality.

Or find something else with equivalent humor to Watamote.

Welcome to the NHK is one possible one. But it's more towards the psychological end:

Barakamon's prequel Handa-kun is sort of similar. The plot is about a highschool guy who is mega-paranoid / socially inept and believes that everyone hates him.

I might also suggest Angel Densetsu. A transfer student with a demonic appearance rises to be the gangboss of the school thugs. Except ... (it's best to read it yourself without spoiler. It's funny).

So the latest episode of Overlord is kinda what kills the show for me, atleast this season. I signed up for a dude stuck in a videogame trying to figure it out while running one of the most powerful evil factions in existance. Not to watch shitty non-character lizardpeople fuck awkwardly.

Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick to Pop Team Epic this season, atleast there I know there's going to be wierd shit happening.

So my current top picks on Crunchyroll for this (/last) season so far are:
'Death March to the parallel world'
Guess what? It's an Isekai. Guess what x2? The main character is overpowered.
Regardless, they so far have managed to make it a little bit more Log Horizon and a little less Cellphone, so I'm keeping my eye on it just to see when actual drama will happen.

Oh, right, I actually read a fair chunk of the original web novel of this. First I'll talk about that, then about the anime adaption in a different part.

He was never stuck in a video game, though.  He was never even in a video game past the first episode of the first season.

I don't think this constitutes a spoiler, but you're not the only one who thought that and the author didn't add other stuff like that again. Lizards are done with after the fourth volume and although I'm not watching it, if they did the sex scene bit then the anime is pretty much through with the fourth volume, there's only the climax (which is the most worthwhile part of the whole book) after that. And after that, the attention shifts over to humans who don't have awkward sex with each other. The next two volumes are a lot more like volume 2 (focusing on a human civilization, that was the one where the climax involved Ainz hugging a crazy girl in a graveyard).

Yeah, if death march to the parallel word is actually death march whatever it is the novel (and from that spoiler it is) the latter is pretty decent for an OP isekai thing. If the anime is like FD here's calling it I'd probably say avoid it like the plague and go read the book(s). The books are a'ight, which for its ilk means it's one of the better ones :V

E: Though, that said, if you want the really terrible reincarnation/summoning thing, you want to go korean or chinese -- punch magic (fooxia, I still haven't bothered learning the nomenclature and quite possibly never will) instead of standard swords and sorcery. Never mind haremshit protags, you regularly run into mass murderers (and not the murderhobo sort) and often enough outright rapists, not just your dubcon slavery stuff. Power fantasy that can be more easily summarized as terrible people doing terrible things to each other, constantly. If it wasn't for the mountains occasionally getting thrown at people you'd probably have trouble paying me to inflict the stuff on myself, ha.

@Cruxador
I know, but it's close enough to illustrate my point. That part was so far removed from anything that came before and served zero purpose as anything but a shitty joke (one that makes no sense in context since the elves are close to a 100 years old). I also have trouble believing that it's done with the lizardmen stuff. Because if it was it'd be a five episode setup to a short fight and them swearing loyalty and that's it? Like literally, the only thing that came out of the five episodes would be him learning that the NPC's are now capable of learning and thinking for themselves, it took us five freaking episodes to get that conclusion and nothing else?

Xianxia is literally the worst. Sweaty Chinese NEETs masturbating as they read/write to the thought of murdering everyone that doesn't worship them (unless they're a woman, then they get raped) and stealing their shit. No wonder it took off in the west with people who like haremshit LNs and litRPG powerwank.

There's, like, two xianxia stories I've seen that aren't repulsive, incredibly boring, or both.

So the latest Dagashi Kashi is goddamn great. Even though this is very obviously one of those plots that never actually moves forward, getting to enjoy the ride is so sweet and memorable regardless. If I were to describe the show in three words: "Just Like Candy"

I really loved the Lizardmen, and knowing that they go away forever is disappointing actually. I feel that the story had gotten flipped for them, and so our protags are mysterious, world-ending threats. My only gripe is, perhaps obviously, that the latest events kinda belittles them; the sex scene was a throwaway joke, and the spontaneous lisp makes the lizard hero seem like an idiot.

So far my favorite thing about Overlord though is that it seems there's some actual thought put into the character's actions. They're not just blindly rushing and doing things, they think through things, make preparations, and then think over and analyze the things they did. It's so good as to be the main draw of the show for me.

I just hope that the inhabitants of Nazarick become more 3-dimensional and gain more independence as time goes on, rather than just being servants that make the whole story come off as one of juvenile wish-fulfillment. Also, that thing were they explain the underlying RPG mechanics of their gear and abilities is just fucking nerdy and lame to the extreme, Jesus Christ stop doing that Overlord, it's a punchline with no joke attached and cringes up the story something fierce.

Yeah, volume 4 is the most skippable one out of all of them. Even moreso than volume 8, and that's a SoL interlude.

I really loved the Lizardmen, and knowing that they go away forever is disappointing actually. I feel that the story had gotten flipped for them, and so our protags are mysterious, world-ending threats.
Oh, there's plenty of other "flipped" perspectives like that. Four other volumes out of the twelve do something along those lines. Just not with lizardmen specifically.

Xianxia is literally the worst. Sweaty Chinese NEETs masturbating as they read/write to the thought of murdering everyone that doesn't worship them (unless they're a woman, then they get raped) and stealing their shit. Well they don't have the dissonance typical of the Japanese stuff where morality is forced on the protagonist but only the trappings of it, so you're being told the person is good when they're obviously not, or they're doing something purely to conform to their nonsensical morality. If you want a less evil xianxia, you might be interested in City of Sin, which is now being translated by the guys who did Warlock of the Magus World. There's rape and murder (all xianxia is a bit grim, it's Chinese after all) but not done by the protagonist and not treated as though it's morally right.

... which would be an interesting departure from WoMW, since it's one of the clearer examples of terrible people doing terrible things to basically everyone, even moreso than normal for punch magic stuff. Was kinda' glad when I caught up and the compulsion to finish reading let go, so I could forget most of it existed and get to trawling through other stuff.

Also I'm pretty sure I've ran into more than two that have at least tolerable protags and vaguely interesting plots (or at least fairly amusing despite being hella' predictable), as web/light novel stuff in general goes. It's not too uncommon that at the absolute least the MC is self-aware regarding how fucked up the scenario's norms are and largely tries to avoid getting stuck in it.

I'm mostly in it for the landscape throwing and absurdity, though, so even some of the objectively terrible stuff is fairly engaging. Just... usually not for the characters. Or the plot. Please stop murdering civilians and burning down the countryside and go back to judo tossing rivers at people. That's interesting, excusing genocide with soliloquies about roots not so much.

Oh yikes.
Problem I guess is that I'm likely gonna watch it anyway. Any Isekai which doesn't completely alienate me seems to get the benefit of the doubt just as a token of the genre.
Not sure what that says about my wish fulfilment crap but hey, literally half of the ones I've seen have been good.

I mean if they stick even slightly to canon it'll be better than the usual dross, despite them speeding through it.

That said, if you have any tolerance for web novels or translations thereof, I'd recommend reading along. I can PM you a link to the translation I use if you'd like, they do a generally decent job. Don't bother with the author's LN rewrite or the manga spinoff, both are stalled.

I know a lot of you guys don't watch this kind of thing, but Mitsuboshi Colors is top tier. It's great light-hearted comedy and just the thing I need when I haven't been working with kids in a few months.

Disclaimer that shouldn't be necessary: Despite being about children, it's not pornographic or sexualized.

Just got started catching up with Konosuba season 2. Still pretty funny. Happened across a better description of it than I'd managed to come up with, "If Seinfeld was an isekai parody and the characters were all terrible people."
