Ehh Gory animes rarely feel legitimately depressing because it usually involved sad people who try to envoke sympathy who then go on to murder massive amounts of people.

It just ends up feeling derranged.

Especially Elfen Lied.

No, i can handle gory anime, although it did annoy me. Im talking about anime like "Urusei Yatsura"....I could only watch about 10 episodes but all i saw was apparently everyone in the world hated this one guy, was misunderstood in every way possible about a marriage, was forcably taken on a dimensional highway by taxi UFO, costing all the worlds oil as payment, when the taxi could have hover a couple of yards instead, and while having his new allpowerful ruler of the universes daughter (meaning the actual ruler hehe) as his wife she doesn't help him. and he gets attacked by her fire breathing relative.
 
It's like it was made to make this one guy's life as horrible as possible.

Check out the crapsack world anime examples on TVTropes; there aren't a huge amount, but most of them fit into that general size and shape.

No, it got you watching with Gore and Body horror.

It kept you watching with poor emotional plot because it was coupled with unnessiary gore.

Though I guess I am just angry that I havn't been able to find any good anime lately since my tastes are so limited. The problem is that if I see enough of an anime Ill have to finish it because I become invested. (I cannot stand Hayate the Combat Butler anymore... but I really gotta see the ending)

The show changes so much at each "arc" as I refer to them.
It's silly and joking up till Dai-Gurren's capture, then it gets a little less goofy, and then after the jump it goes pretty serious.

Kittan finally took Kamina's place, both in Yoko's heart and in the story in general, as shown when he achieves the spiral eyes of ultimate power and immortality.
