https://myanimelist.net/anime/genre/26/Shoujo_Ai

Yuru Yuri - the obvious one.
Hidamari Sketch - hints of yuri now and then.
Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san - very cute, really short episodes
Sakura Trick - actual yuri in this one, some ecchi

There are a couple more that come to mind that are probably completely clean but they are more SoL drama-oriented rather than SoL comedy.

BTW fun trivia: avoid using the label "yuri" when searching for English speaking anime sites - use "shoujo ai" instead. And avoid using the label "shoujo ai" when talking to actual Japanese people - say "yuri" instead. On English sites the "Yuri" label is reserved for just yuri hentai, and "Shoujo ai" is used for "light yuri". But in Japan ALL yuri is just called yuri, while "shoujo ai" means you have a fondness for little girls ... so it's one of those unfortunate cases of the English fans making up categories that don't make sense to Japanese people.
Depends on which English-speaking fans you talk to, I suppose. I normally see yuri used to mean all yuri, and shoujo ai not used at all. Or at most, for ironic shitposting, but rarely even that.

Holy crap. I'm watching Bleach Abridged (BlazingAzureCrow) and I just realised that Ichigo used to smile a lot in his battles back in his early days. Kinda wish it was more like that in the later series.

I was more thinking about the English website categorizations. Fans are more of a mixed bunch, but if someone tells a Japanese person about "Shoujo Ai" they're going to think you mean a type of porn, not "cute yuri", and for that matter if you say "Hentai" to mean porn, Japanese people, even anime fans, almost always don't know WTH you're talking about.

Thanks for the recs Reelya, I'm watching the first episode of Sakura Trick right now and it looks like exactly what I was hoping for.

Is it me, or are a lot of high-school crushes named Yuu-chan? (and by "a lot" I mean Tomoko's friend in Watamote and the main love interest in Sakura Trick)

Maybe you're on to something:

http://www.babynamewizard.com/name-list/japanese-girls-names-most-popular-names-for-girls-in-japan

Quote
1) Yui
...
3) Yuna

Yuu-chan is the "cute" version of any name beginning with "Yu", which are 2 out of the top 3 girls names in Japan (at least in 2012).

Is in Dragon Ball Super... and it is starting to hit me more and more... is I don't think Goku even likes Chichi...

It is actually becoming sadder and sadder that this is some sort of loveless one way marriage.
Later on, Vegeta is shocked at how little Goku really knows about things like, where babies come from, and kissing.

'You mean you've never done that?'
"Of course not."
'But you're married.'

The closest he's gotten is when he visited Vegeta's proctology practice.

I remain endlessly amused by the clip they use for the adult swim showings.

"Sure, let's go see Yamcha."

Vegeta, you wonderful jerk.

Ok I love this VERY little bit of scene continuity in Little Witch Academia

They are testing a spell and the teacher thought she got everyone to try the spell and they could move on.

So a student points out that she missed the protagonist.

And she goes "Ohh so I did" showing her checklist and there being a lack of checkmark.

The really great touch? If you look carefully you will see that the check for her name is really close to her thumb. So she was skipped over because the teacher's thumb was in the way of the check box, even though the anime never actually states this. :P

Continuing Sakura Trick.

I wonder if it was intentional on the writer's part that the main couple is basically just a vehicle for fanservice, while the side characters (especially Kotone and Shizuku, and Yuu's sister whose name I still can't remember) get all the conflicts and growth. Nothing's gotten too serious, but the difference in characterization between main vs. side characters is like day and night.

I have to admit...

I haven't seen a pedophilic incestuous romance I was expected to sympathize with...

But.. yep that happened.

Just to state there is no degree of trying to get the audience to really sympathize with the characters. You are just expected to.

So if you are thinking of say... Wixoss where they did their damnest to make you understand. That isn't it.

Nor is it played for comedy.

---

If I do have to give Overlord a compliment.

The entire series is set up like a chess match against an invisible opponent and the major way they do the war is by controlling information. Making anytime he pulled out all the stops representing just how serious the situation really is.

I am pretty sure if the anime continued though this aspect would have started to fall apart.

Plus at a certain point I would have probably liked to get some grasp on what our hero actually had...

I also have to praise Overlord for doing what no manga or anime has done before! Take place in a videogame... that isn't popular at all!!!

From what I've read of the books (more than the anime covers, but I'm not up to date with the TLs) this continues to be a major theme throughout.
