I've gotten complete volumes of manga from my local library. That's how I got to read through all of Nausicaa. They're just all placed squarely in the young teens section and when I venture into there I'm always afraid a Weeb Alert is gonna go off and I'll become the town pariah.

Actually, that's how I got the idea to torture myself with Red River, my library has most of the volumes in ANF. Plenty of other random stuff too: JJBA, Barefoot Gen, &c. Teen section has more complete but it's mostly shonen and softer shoujo stuff.

Actual Edit: Actually lets put this in spoilers... No one needs to see my frustration over what seriously needs to DIE in all anime... Even if you like fanservice... NO! Even if it is a anime ABOUT fanservice NO! it is the most disruptive unbelievable thing I ever seen...

If you want women fighting over which one of them is the sexiest... then do it... Do not write the pillow fight equivalent.

Honestly, that sounds like the kind of enjoyably terrible premise that could make a really fun series in the right hands. Kind of like Ore! Twintails ni Narimasu.

So the blokes who made Hellsing are making a new show. It's called Drifters. I'm less than minutes in and it is already clear that this is made by the guys that made Hellsing. Why?

Well, you can tell because of the EVERYTHING.

The aesthetics, at the very least, yes. Which, I mean. They did have that pretty well down, all things considered. Plus they're generally on the antagonist's side and get shot up a lot. Not very many people don't have a fair appreciation of nazis getting shot up, quiaff?

I mean if you're going to have stylish super-evil villains why not Nazis? They're iconic, tremendously stylish, and incredibly satisfying to kill. The true gift that Austria gave us was an enemy that will literally never stop being boring because every time you pause to think about how cartoonishly overblown their villainy is you remember that the real Nazis probably did something crazier and more absurd.

I do faintly recall a story about how they drafted up plans for an orbital magnifying glass to fry people from space, if that's even remotely true, then there's not much you can do to top that.

IDK, I've read about some of the schemes the USA came up with during the cold war to use up all those h-bombs they were churning out. Frying people with a big magnifying glass is nothing.

I had this book a while ago, but someone stole it. It includes a lot of quotes and reports of different cold war schemes. One of the plans tossed around was the idea of exploding 1000's of H-bombs on one side of Mt Everest. The idea was that this would act like a lever, and tilt the Earth's rotation such that Moscow would end up on the North Pole.
