It isn't THAT much of a self parody, she was channeling the energy of her half-saiyan kid, she didn't become half, she can't just do this, and even if they did the ritual thing again with her in the loop it wouldn't do anything, not sure what the point of taking it as canon that she was super saiyan would be outside of silly fanfic reasons anyways, in which case use whatever headcanon you like?

Ehhh I dunno. Frieza's explanation of how he got so powerful (and his Henchman) was outright hilarious and perfectly in line with Dragon Ball.

Yeah, DB was always goofy, it's why I love DBS, it feels way more like DB than Z ever did, but more to the point: if Videl had in fact become super saiyan, besides it actually being super human or something, someone would have called attention to this amazing new feat, and she would probably be doing more than just a side role in helping Goku power up. Let's not forget that she also glows blue during the ritual, so why not say she was the first one to go super saiyan blue? Her eyes didn't change either, so is glowing floaty hair+normal blue eyes a new stage?

It's silly, man.
