The only thing Ichigo can't power up enough to defeat: Corporate Executives.

Maybe one day he will awaken to the knowledge that he is half-CEO

That reminds me of the story in Bakuman.

Bakuman is a manga/anime by the writer + artist team who did Death Note, about a writer + artist team trying to crack into the manga industry in hopes of one day seeing an anime adaptation of their work. Their works created in Bakuman also bear similarities to Death Note. Bakuman is therefore self-referential on multiple levels.

The relevant bit is a minor plot point where they are pressured by Executive Meddling to keep a manga going well past the point at which they thought it should end. Which seems to mirror complaints about the 2nd season of Death Note continuing after it really should have ended.

So question for you guys?

What do you think is the best fight scene in anime?

Personally I'm torn between Ryoku vs. Jakazure in Kill La Kill and the fight between Issei and Vali in Highschool DxD

7/10 Has much more memorable sigs but casts them to the realm of sigtexts.

Indeed, I do this.

The ones that immediately spring to mind are: The entirety of the Jojo OVA. Episode 21 of KLK. Gurren Lagann: Lagann-hen the last minutes of the last fight.

Though if you want to expand the definition of 'fight' to include any decisive struggle whatsoever: The entirety of the Blackjack OVA, Future Boy Conan's struggle when he's trapped underwater when the boat he's on sinks. Rikishi's extreme fast. A manga example: The showdown at the mountaintop in Gamble Fish.

I quite enjoyed the DBZ Kai version of Goku's first real fight with Vegeta.

The one where Piccolo blew up the moon so Vegeta couldn't become a great ape. In response, Vegeta creates a second moon.

Also, I'm almost definitely nostalgia-blind, but I still love Asuka's fight against the MP Evas in End of Evangelion

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But yeah. As far as sheer entertainment goes, my gut is pointing towards Kanata no Kyoukai. That first fight for the funny ("Sempai! You made me kill the bucket!") and probably Ai's mom whatsername vs juicebox asshole for sheer overpowering badassery.

Hajime no Ippo fights are up there for great battle scenes. Partly because each fight goes for multiple episodes with great pacing and cliffhangers, as well as flashbacks during the fights to create viewer empathy with both contenders. Even if some fights have a predetermined outcome for plot reasons, shit still matters because they make you care about both sides (Except for Brian Hawk but he's 'special'). Takamura vs Brian Hawk, Kimura vs Mashiba, Date vs Ippo, among many other great fights.

EDIT: Actually I was just looking around because you don't normally think Japanese dude when thinking of world-class boxers. But there are definitely some guys up there with exploits on the scale of Hajime no Ippo

Kyotaro Fujimoto: Japanese heavyweight boxer, world-class. 12 fights, 11 wins, 6 KOs, 1 loss. Basically his career is exactly the same as the top-ranking Ippo characters.

Yeah, Ippo makes boxing really interesting with all the shit going on. I used to enjoy when Ippo and Kenichi were both updating at the same time, but Kenichi ended. T.T

Can't think of any specifics, but nearly any fight in Hellsing Ultimate was fucking sick.

Maybe not the absolute best one, but the first that springs to mind.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood spoilers.

The way the environment is incorporated and the camera angles blew me away when I first saw it.

A good fight scene shouldn't go on longer than it needs to be.
