Is it as good as Steins;Gate? I've been disappointed stuff isn't more Steins;Gate.

As... as far as I'm aware, KlK is very different from S;G. Comparing S;G to KlK would be like comparing durians to rocket powered kiwis.

That said, I've never gotten around to watching S;G, so I can't comment on the comparative quality. Just can note that KlK is indeed pretty good, if probably not exactly universally appealing.

I'm pretty behind on mainstream animoo, but figured it's time to check out Trigger.
You are in for a treat sir. "Made by Trigger" has literally become a reason to be on my watchlist.

Kill La Kill is easily the greatest thing humankind has ever conceived of, so you should probably watch everything else first or you'll just be disappointed it isn't more KLK.

I've heard KLK has a lot of "omg lolrandom" humor. Is this true?

I'd... say not really? Most of its humor is mostly, like. Grounded in the setting? Plot, whatever. Something along those lines. So far as I can recall. Generally not actually random.

That said, it could get pretty outlandish/bizarre, because, y'know. There's some weird shit going on in KlK.

Yeah, not lolrandom in the maymay sense. Just a very odd perspective and setting with humor appropriate to the same.

I started S;G but I bailed the instant I heard 4chan get namedropped by one of the characters and I thought "Oh no... this is made by channers". Though in hindsight, that was an immature response seeing as how I  later on went to enjoy Katawa Shoujo, which is even more directly influenced by 4chan internet culture. I should probably give you another chance, something like 4 years later now, S;G.

S;G is a whole lot of fun. And knowledge of chan-culture definitely fits within the design of at least one, and probably two, of the main characters.

That would be an attempt to localize the 2chan jokes.

Well, obviously. And good thing, too, because clever cross-cultural translation of jokes and references is infinitely better than paragraph-long TNs explaining them.

Of course, there's also unnecessary and obtuse ones which are far more common, so~

Just 1 episode in so far, and really digging the grim hardass of a protagonist, and the whole Bizarro Dystopian High School aesthetic they've got going on. Pretty sure I noticed the Life Threads from Luluco in them boxing gloves too. The whole "Makes your desires manifest" thing, and these special uniforms that seem to be doing the same thing. HMMM.

You got that luluco reference backwards :P

And... well. There's a fairly consistent aesthetic, but it's... not really what it first appears. Or it is and it kinda' isn't. Things escalate pretty quickly, ehehe.

Yeah yeah, I know it came out later. Asynchronous storytelling, though!

Obviously the Space Patrol introduced life fibers to the KLK Earth. ;)

That would be an attempt to localize the 2chan jokes.

^ Can't stress this enough. S;G is talking about the 2-chan message boards in Japan. That was where the creators of 4-chan got the name, but they're completely unconnected.

The difference between 2-chan and 4-chan is exemplified by the 2-chan character "Kuma".

くまくま━━━━━━ヽ( ・(ェ)・ )ノ━━━━━━ !!!

^ This was often posted on 2-chan when someone was trolling (fishing for attention). Get it? Bears eat fish so Kuma is right up in the fishing threads. That's the entire joke. It was 4-chan that turned kuma into "pedobear".
