Sorry but you missed the boat there. There are no "rare occasions" that HorrbleSubs decides to sub something themselves. They are a bunch of computer programmers who know how to automate video stream ripping, and happen to like anime. They lack: translators, scriptwriters, timers, typesetters and encoders. Just having "subs" in the group's name doesn't mean anything. None of those skills are needed for their actual operation, so it stands to reason that they would lack personnel with those skills.

Ok, in the case of Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, I'll bet you that it's a simulcast if HorribleSubs has it. Because they only rip simulcasts: that's why they never have the OVAs, specials or movies for things. First step of research is fansubdb.com to find out who is simulcasting any current show. You can see that Amazon Prime Video have the rights. Checking it out on Amazon, you can get the air dates. Cross-checking with HorribleSubs, you can see the dates are the same. So they're getting it from Amazon.

With that, you can pinpoint the actual culprits of shitty subs for Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: big corporations like Amazon who want to dip their feet in the anime market, and outbid the specialized anime companies like CrunchyRoll and Funimation for a select few profitable titles. It's no surprise some noobs like Amazon are going to produce below-par subs.

Way back I read that the reason Kodomo no Jikan doesn't have an official translation is because they licensed it, then there was a massive outcry/backlash against the company for doing so. So yeah it's one of the few that would actually benefit from a Kickstarter, because no legit company will touch that thing with a barge pole. But as to why this things needs to be in print, I have no idea. There are translations already out there that anyone really interested could read online.

The people doing it now are a legitimate company, even if they're not really a big name or anything.

Another interesting note since we seem to be dancing around the issue: it's the paedophile anime.

The manga is less so though. It's about a girl who acts sexually towards her teacher because of reasons involving her primary caregiver, and also her friends who have their own problems. It's really more about the difficulties of being a teacher and having students with problems at home than it is about loli pandering, although there's a little bit of that towards the beginning. Gotta stand out from the pack somehow.

I haven't watched it, but I BELIEVE it's not explicit. I wouldn't tell my friends though, they'd probably never look at you the same way again. Depending on how much tinfoil you keep in your hat, there'd be definite cause to believe you'd be on some government watch list.

It's definitely not porn. There's no sex or nudity, and sexual themes aren't even all that extensive. They're also pretty heavily front-loaded so if the first little bit isn't too much for you, with the knowledge that it's supposed to be weird and disturbing rather than erotic (which is kind of a spoiler but whatever), the rest should be fine too.

So I'm up to ep 30-31 of SEED (their acronyms are retarded btw) and is it just me or did they just kinda up and ignored the whole phase armour thing in the past several episodes? Like, the entire point of why the gundams are so scary is that they're pretty much immune to beam weapons and explosives to some degree, which leaves only melee and that is even scarier because of how good they are at it. But then they get into a couple of these fights when they leave Orb and suddenly Kira is slicing arms and legs left and right. Like, if they did it with the physical sword it'd make sense (as it did in the one case), but the beam sabre shouldn't be doing this crap.

Also for a moment there I thought we'd be getting an Astray harem on the Archangel, luckily that didn't quite happen (atleast not yet :V)

It's the other way round. Phase Shift Armor defends against physical attacks but is weak to beams unless you direct ridiculous amounts of power into the system to strengthen it.

Hey what do you say about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure? I watched some of Diamond is Unbreakable (haven't read the manga) the other day, just to give it a try, and I really don't know what to say. Characters seem too much one-dimensional to me, but I feel there's something withtin that makes them likeable a bit, some spirit if you will (I mean mostly JoJo). Some situations and how characters react to them are just hillarious but it doesn't feel like it was intended, not certain if I should take what is going on in the anime any serious or it's supposed to be just fun. Oh, and the opening is great.

What about the Alessi arc? That whole part was legitimately terrible.



I think JoJo is overall pretty good and enjoyable but probably the most overhyped and overrated thing right now, with a lot of people propping it up to be some grand achievement of characters and story writing; it isn't.
It's a goofy action show about people beating each other up in crazy ways with a lot of dramatic posing and dialogue, but none of the plot or characters are particularly deep because it wasn't intended to be.

Furthermore, a lot of people are jumping on now because they keep hearing how absolutely amazing and fantastic it is, and I don't think it will live up to your expectations if you go in expecting the greatest thing ever made. Even worse, a lot of those people are jumping in at Part 3 or Part 4 because everyone only talks about specifically those two parts instead of watching from the beginning and actually understanding what the heck is going on.


It's like setting yourself up for failure just because you want to ride the hype train and bask in the shared excitement everyone is emitting, and being willing to sacrifice your own enjoyment just to "catch up" and be a part of all the dumb memes.

I read the manga before watching the anime and so that might have impacted things since everything went by so quickly, but there isn't any part I would personally call bad. It's worth noting that the writing quality takes a massive leap upwards once part 7 hits.

Allright I've started with the first episode of the very first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure today, and I still can't seem to comprehend its brilliance and ultimately decide whether I like this thing or not. Feels pretty much tasteless so far (perhaps It positively has to do with the high expectations I hold for this show, anticipating its awesomeness finally unfolded, and I'm still not getting what I expected), yet a lot of people adore JoJo saying it's amazingly great, and I hardly even heard anything bad about this series; maybe I should get deeper into it first and then decide on my own, so I will just keep watching.

Could some of you tell me what you value this series for? What special is there to it, why is it being hyped in some circles so heavily? Of course, if it can be done without exposing the plot too much.

Aaah someone please help me stop rewatching this opening!!
