As an American
Ou

Uh. Crunchyroll Subs are the same as HorribleSubs. Except for when they're Funi or Daisuki. HorribleSubs just rips the subs from the simulcasting sites for distribution.
On the rare occasion that they do sub something themselves, it's... horrible. Koutetsujou ep. 2 was a good example, with the DAIJOUBU and (idk what measurement).

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Is Bungo Stray Dogs good? My interest piqued when I saw a crazy woman as the thumbnail on Crunchyroll for it, and if Shimoneta has taught me anything, it's that Crazy Women are my oddly-specific-interest apparently.

This is manga, not anime, but interesting news nonetheless: Kodomo no Jikan has a kickstarter for translation and printing up now, more than a third funded. Sort of interesting, but based on the example translations it's going to be pretty low quality, even if you're into that sort of thing, and there's been fan translations for like a decade. So mostly it's interesting because of the political shitstorm that may or may not unfold.
That sounds familiar, what was-

Pffff. I doubt enough people will notice for anything to happen, but yeah, "grade schooler lusts after teacher" is basically IRL flamebait (for eagles, anyway).

Way back I read that the reason Kodomo no Jikan doesn't have an official translation is because they licensed it, then there was a massive outcry/backlash against the company for doing so. So yeah it's one of the few that would actually benefit from a Kickstarter, because no legit company will touch that thing with a barge pole. But as to why this things needs to be in print, I have no idea. There are translations already out there that anyone really interested could read online.

Interesting side note: the author of this manga is a woman.

Another interesting note since we seem to be dancing around the issue: it's the paedophile anime.

At one time, an English-language version of the manga was licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment for distribution in North America under the title Nymphet

As much as I love adding words to my lexicon, I wasn't thinking it'd be under these circumstances.

I wonder if I'd get arrested if I tried to watch it

I haven't watched it, but I BELIEVE it's not explicit. I wouldn't tell my friends though, they'd probably never look at you the same way again. Depending on how much tinfoil you keep in your hat, there'd be definite cause to believe you'd be on some government watch list.

Eh, I've read bits of the manga. Thing was mentioned enough curiosity got to me. It, at least, is not explicit, or what I saw of it wasn't. Still pretty fanservicey at points (with all that entails considering the ages involved), but not even at, say, To Love-Ru levels, much less anything that says t'blazes with it and goes full tits out and on parade or straight up porn. Wasn't very interesting though :-\

But still, far as I'm aware it's not actually straight up loli hentai or anything. Just mumbling around fairly taboo themes.

I assume the same reason they've bothered printing anything for the past few decades: A sense of ownership/support/material thing.

Little curious just who's going to proudly display something like that in their bookcase, though.

Interesting side note: the author of this manga is a woman.
This didn't sound very interesting until I started wondering what kinds of allegories the story might be from the perspective of the little girl(s). Then it became fascinating.

It's always oddly sad to see something reviled for dubious reasons, but then just not be very good on its valid merits either.

So less objectionable than NGNL.

You could probably do something interesting by juxtaposing the inherently innocent nature of childhood crushes on adults-parents, teachers, whatever (I distinctly remember crushing on a teacher in third or fourth grade, ferex) with the reality of romantic relationships and dating. Not much, but something.

It will never happen. Both because it's hard to derive much of worth from it, and because pretty much anyone who would read it would just be there for fetishism.

That's adorable, but I was thinking more along the lines of "Guys keep friendzoning/being uncomfortable with my advances, hey I wonder if I could make a story out of that."

Well, yeah.

The fact that it's a relatively "mainstream" anime that caters to paedophiles so openly is what's worrying really.

Well shit, that's even worse unless you're being deliberately super-cringey about it. Otherwise it's just this mediocre "lol life sure does suck" that only has an audience because of pedos.
