The official website says she's 12 AFAIK.
She looks older, at least 14 years old and looking closer to 15 or 16.
And as everyone knows, its not how old she actually IS that matters its how old she LOOKS. This is the mindset that will keep you out of prison. For reals guys. So seriously.

I wouldn't call it anime, but I would call it great.

It's anime, what do you expect?

Apparently, Skallagrim has high hopes...from a different series of course.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is like the summer blockbuster anime that came out in the spring. It's, you know, what it is. Vaguely like AoT, but right now, better on the big damn heroes moments that blockbusters are known for imo. Mileage and all that.

You quote Skallagrim, I bring the most opposite of what ya linked.

Thank you for your recommendations (those will be watched carefully!)

Anyway..
For some strange reason, I started Mononoke, quite unique style, don't know exactly what to think ...
Any thoughts on this?

In that nebulous situation that nobody has ever heard of actually happening but which theoretically might, courts (in the U.S. at least) would hypothetically care about what a character looks like rather than how old the story says they are when deciding if it's child porn.

It's apparently a cause of much anxiety for perverts, especially ones who are desperate to show that they aren't pedos.

Which is incredibly dumb, seeing as the entire intent of child porn laws is to prevent people from messing up children. In works of fiction no children are being messed up, even if said fiction depicts them as being so.

Actually the laws (in the U.S.) are really specific, you can't get in legal trouble for viewing something (like an anime) where 'underage' characters are sexualized, unless those underage characters are based on real people.

Which is why it's funny how much some people worry about it. Hence "it's never happened, but pervs still stress".  :P

It's also why GoT was able to air.

Actually the laws (in the U.S.) are really specific, you can't get in legal trouble for viewing something (like an anime) where 'underage' characters are sexualized, unless those underage characters are based on real people.

You should review the actual cases that have occured before deciding that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_cartoon_pornography_depicting_minors

The most recent relevant cases were:

- 2008 Iowa case - the guy who imported some lolicon manga. The 2003 law (PROTECT Act, passed by Bush) banning fictional sexualized children was overturned as unconstitutional, yet they convicted him anyway for "obscenity".
- 2010 Idaho case - guy convicted for looking at porn images of The Simpsons.
- 2012 Missouri case - guy had some dubious comics, got 3 years for the catch-all "obscene material".

So, yeah, no. Look into it, if you have questionable material they have a number of ways to get you in prison if they feel like it. This hasn't extended to stuff like No Game No Life's loli bath time etc ... yet, but I don't think it's entirely impossible that someone somewhere could get in trouble for watching regular TV animes that have very young looking girls with very little clothing.

In the Commonwealth the laws are directed at what's portrayed rather than whether or not it involves real people. So underage anime porn is illegal for obscenity in most cases - although obscenity also includes stuff like pee/poop. Suffice to say you're unlikely to get a conviction.
I think NZ has a clause about the work needing to "support" obscenity to actually be classed as obscene, although I'm not sure what the requirements for that actually are.

As far as I'm aware, there's very little legal onus on the consumer for these kinds of things in the Commonwealth, but distribution will get you fines and hefty sentencing. Assuming anyone finds out, which is unlikely because ISPs don't really seem to care unless it's literal child porn rather than drawn.

Eehhh... stateside, and some other places, stuff like NGNL's loli bathing time (or GATE's loli murder orgasming, or any thousand other examples) probably couldn't get you a conviction on its own, but it could contribute to pushing other stuff over the line, or make it more likely you catch harsher sentencing if you happen to have something that's more legitimately questionable in your possession, even above and beyond the obscene catchall stuff. Apparently borderline (or just relatively in the direction of such) material can be seen in a different legal light under certain conditions, though I'm far from on top of current legal trends and whatnot so take it with the usual Olympus Mons of salt that you should always carry for online legal discussion. S'kinda' like how someone can have videos of young children playing in normal conditions without trouble (family vacations, public events, etc., etc.), but if they've also got a bucketload of straight up CP on their computer it's suddenly not quiiiiite the same situation.

Yeah, for example there was one guy in Virginia who got convicted for looking at lolicon images, and what pushed that over the line was that he had cut-outs from clothing catalogues of young girls. So it doesn't necessarily need to even be porn, just has to be creepy for you to collect it. The rule is therefore if you're going 2D, stick to 2D and don't have any icky 3D, no matter where it's sourced.

So it's kinda like stuff like NGNL is fine on it's own, but if you're caught with actual legit CP then it changes dramatically?

So kinda like most places laws concerning knives and lockpicks. They're legal but frowned upon to have them in public, and if you're caught doing something (even if the knife/lockpick is not used in the crime) then it would be worse than if you didn't have it on you.

I watched NGNL for the strategy and adaptive thinking they use in it, I didn't even know about the fanservice in it until it came up and I was like, "Wait, what?"
