AoT is also one of the few animes I watched from beginning to end on my 3DS, so I can't comment on the art style, I could barely see it.

I'll probably never watch attack on Titan... beyond its community that misrepresents it to horrific degrees. AND the plot twists that were spoiled to me that were outright silly (The anime suffers from Cylon Disease)

The art gives it such overwhelming unfortunate implications. To the extent where I am not sure if the creator is trying to make a point or if the creator is trying to make an excuse.

Also it does that annoying thing where the action scenes are cut with a lot of standing around and exposition while all the fighting happens somewhere that the animators weren't paid to draw. Seriously, this happens in every single action anime I can think of and it annoys me to no end.
Subverted-- one punch man.
They got the guy who choreographed Sword of the Stranger to do it.

Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Budget Blade Works?

I liked Attack on Titan because I watched it near the beginning (so spoilers hadn't spread near as much), and the reveal right near the end of the TV show was the first reveal in just about anything that has caught me unawares in years. I literally did not see the reveal coming until within about a second of it actually being revealed on screen, which is a very rare thing for me, and is a big plus for the show in my book.

UBW definitely has the "lots of standing around and exposition" part though.

Yeah, but it's very rare for them to cut away in the middle of a fight when they could otherwise be showing off how awesome their animation team is. :P The only real times I can think of it happening is when something actually important really is going on at the same time as the fight, i.e. cutting between Shirou's decision and the early Saber/Berzerker fight (which was probably the closest they came to this), or cutting back and forth between the Shirou fight and Rin near the end of the show. Heck, they even manage to avert the whole "two characters moving faster than you can see so we just have to animate a bunch of sparks with stationary pictures of the fighters appearing and disappearing" thing; when there's a fight going on in UBW it actually looks like a fight with people moving around. ;D

There's not nearly as much expository monologue as in the source material.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Yes but I heard UBW was otherwise crap.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat? No, it's really good. If someone thinks it's crap they must be... I dunno, a DEEN fan? Do those exist?

Yeah, story wise Fate/Zero beats it a little bit, and Shirou isn't the greatest of protagonists, but honestly UBW is firmly sitting in my top anime collection right now. It's definitely worth the watch if you haven't seen it yet (though I suggest watching Fate/Zero first in this case, because since they were made one after another by the same company things click remarkably well, and the UBW route twists aren't really spoiled by F/Z like some of the other routes potentially are [and honestly I think some parts make a lot more sense in that order]).

Oh. My housemate was like "it's a bridging story whih manages to ruin both stories it's bridging between".
Yeah not sure what they're smoking. It's one of the main routes of the very first stories in that particular series, so I'm not sure what she views it as "bridging". :P

Can you spoil origin for me? I can't figure it out because I haven't read the manga and not particularly inclined to but I am interested as to where titans come from.

As to the UBW crowd: Fate's still originally an eroge. It's never going to be super plot-heavy, and it's always going to have a super-heavy plot.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying with that? Eroge tends to mean it's plot that has had porn tagged for extra Otaku sales. It's Nukige that's the ones with no plot

Eh, to me a lot of the Fate stories have never really shown up as "porn, with a tacked on plot" (part of that might be because they started out with so much exposition). Still not quite to the point where they're a "real story with porn tacked on"; the idea is woven a bit deep for that, but they're definitely in the range where it is possible to very tastefully handle any references to that original part of their nature without suffering much, and still have more than enough of a story left over for things to stand on their own. Heck, the UBW adaptation that we were just talking about really only presses close to the issue at a single point, and I thought they handled it remarkably well, with a very natural-feeling buildup and even then not touching on the subject directly.
