And for anyone wondering why there's no season two, where do you go after you have a flying demi-god who can nuke cities at will and raise the dead ad infinitum? What do you do to top that?
Didn't stop them for the first season. Also "demi?" Tatsuya-dono-sama-sempai-Christ will have your head for that. Well, the heads of everyone in your city, but who's counting, they're Chinese.

PSO2 Animation - EP1 (Part 2 of 2)
So it manages to be contrived and self-obsessed without actually caring about itself. Design by committee/management, perhaps?

At least the Darker looks neat.

A rat in boxer shorts smoking a foul smelling cigar is banging on a cabinet shouting about rent money.

The Darkers look nice-ish, but the problem is they're all in CG, primarily for budgeting I'm sure.

And then, the CG is very stuttery and looks pretty damned jarring.

And the art is nothing really stellar to look at. So you're looking at a generic high school anime trying to incorporate a generic MMO plot with a weak protagonist and a mary sue for its deuteragonist.

completed part 2; I have no idea how SEGA plans to tie in this shitty universe to PSO2.

Allright... so i finished watchign the first season (and the specials) of One Punch Man after one binge.
And i have a very weird feeling about the main character and a downright insane theory.

Maybe it'll turn out that they were NPCs in the game all along, which would explain the same-face brigade, plain-face McGee being unexplainably popular, the protagonist having a random avatar that looks like them and why everyone's loadouts are terrible. Obviously they are all engrossed with the game because they must test it before the update goes live. Once it does, then they must struggle in a new enviroment as real players join their world and completely wrec-

...

Nah. That sounds too creative for this PoS. It'll probably turn out to be something stupid like the game world invades the real world. Or the other way around, it doesn't matter. So long as it is uncreative.

Nah, it'll be something like Phantasy Star is the game-within-a-game, and the 'real world' is another MMO that is being played exclusively by the type of overweight slob NEET stereotype that we all know and love from South Park.

Well I can't argue against him being a Mary Sue.
But I feel like I can happily handwave it and call it satire.

Also they haven't broken the 4th wall yet. Doubt they will.

OPM was actually conceived as a simple one shot where the hero is absolutely totally accomplished in which he kills things without an afterthought, and wishes for the thrill of the battle again.

Some fans pegged him to write more, so he continued down that plot into monster of the week.

OPM's appeal isn't that he always wins, or that he's a Mar(t)y Sue who inexplicably gain honor for his deeds of heroism. Instead it shows him trying to enforce his ideals of "heroism" to people who think that Heroes are both security guards and celebrities.

And whether he'll eventually find the battle he so longed for. Either way, he's often used as a plot device to stop some incredibly inescapable disaster, and due to its vast amount of colorful characters and his lack of focus in the plot where he gets all of the honor ala Tatsuya, he's ultimately portrayed as a human with a different set of problems compared to others, but still legitimate ones.

Banking on either of the last ones you mentioned, since EP4 brings a new world: Earth, where you'll land on Tokyo Japan killing crystal-formed cars, dinosaurs, road-rollerdas, JSDF tanks and helicopters, and a train hydra.

Yeah, maybe I'm reading too shallowly, but I'm quite enjoying it. He's this impossibly powerful human, but his biggest enemy is public opinion.
Although when I saw the first episode, my mind clicked to "parody", so that bumped up the whole series. I was like "These fight scenes are So amazing, for a parody".

Please, those fight scenes are so amazing... if they were Shonen. :P

It is actually one of the few series that has a "fight between two people far beyond the limits of humanity" without it becoming complete metaphorical nonsense like say... Gundam Build Fighters Try's final battle (excluding the FFA).

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu - wow, first episode was great. Definitely recommending this for people who want something completely different to the "typical" animes.

Yeah, pretty much.

Just started PSO2 anime. Did you know that Phantasy Star Online 2 became a worldwide hit with kids due to the widespread adoption of Ethernet making high-speed communications possible? Me neither! Just one of the helpful and factual things they tell you in the info-blurbs in this show! BTW, you should play PSO2! Everyone is!
