Well, Saber was based on someone who really lived (though only loosely resembles the legend):

Wish King David could have been implemented somewhat.

Hey, there's 19 different "Assassins" (20 if you count the one from F/SN, and like 30 if you count some of the ones from other things like games). And on top of that one of those essentially has the ability of having 80 different versions of himself.

There's a reason why people commonly refer to the characters as their historical/mythological name instead of their class one; the only reason people tend to use "Saber" for Saber is that her actual identity is a big spoiler for much of the original VN.

Well in class terms there's a limitless amount of Sabers but as far as "Seibah" Sabers go basically...

...Takeuchi reeeeaaaallly likes that design.

Just watching the last Sailor Moon OVA that I hadn't seen and was reminded of the most disturbing hero ability in the whole series. Especially considering that it's a dude.

EDIT: Watching this great anime movie at the moment that came out in 2012. Artwork is great, giving a Ghibli feeling, but it's not really kid safe (gets pretty gory and has sexual references).

Saber is basically the face of the series so I guess they feel the need to include the same design in all spinoffs, even if it's a different character.

FSN contains exclusively heroes who are mythological or fictionalized to some degree, probably out of respect.  F/Z breaks this rule a bit but still doesn't include anyone particularly recent.

Wouldn't mind a Saber Achilles though.
... Ok so maybe my line of what is too much mythology is a little skewed...

Maybe I'm biased against nonhumans.
And Hercules.
If you wanted a berserker with similar cheese, go Vlad the Impaler.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Vlad has already shown up 3 different times in the overall series, though only one of those was as a Berserker, the rest went with the more predictable Lancer class instead (since he you know, impales things on spears and all :P).

I kinda want to see Napoleon as... I dunno, Rider? His phantasm could be inspiring revolutions.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Oh, gosh.  I just imagined Talleyrand as possibly summoned as either an Assassin or Caster (albeit in the same way Shakespeare is a Caster).  Specialty would be King of Diplomats, an ability that dispels all Contracts within the Reality Marble...including the one that binds him to his own Master.

Found another good anime movie tonight, Giovanni no Shima (2014). It's one of those movies set after the fall of Japan in WWII, but it's a different take to the usual ones. Contains a lot of references to Kenji Miyazawa's Night on the Galactic Railroad, so watching the best-regarded anime version of that would add a lot more value to this new movie.
