Also not sure if intros exactly count given most of them aren't EXACTLY made for the anime.

Though frankly I'd be pissed if Euphonium didn't have real music... Given that is the point.

But it would take hours to get a guitar solo properly sequenced in your fake software compared to mere seconds to get someone to just play the riff. Goos guitarists aren't rare.
The difference is mostly in composition and where multiple performers would otherwise be needed. Guitar is easy, and at least several dozen people can play them. But with piano, violin, or anything less commonplace, the gap between "time/cost to sequence" and "time/cost to play" rapidly shrinks. Then grows again, in the other direction.

Also:
Watch every episode one of Sora no Woto.

Music and stuff. I was going to link the songs but it's better to watch the ep. (make sure to find the extended version of ep 1 which is about 25:48 long and has more music)

I think the best description overall is Haibane Renmei meets Aria

I'll watch it as soon as I am done watching little girls fathers die leaving them orphaned only to be sent to an emotionally distant and overly strict relative leaving their friends and everything they known behind.

Joy to the world!

---

UGH curse these esoteric honorifics.

Oujo-Sama? Well Sama makes sense she is the niece and live-in of the Mistress of the house and she is being referred to by a servant.

Either this is a similar situation as "DOSA!!!"... Or there are some honorifics that only apply to Masters and their members.

Bonus points that "Jo" can be "No" Ou-No-Sama... I'd honestly suspect it would be Dono, but... she really doesn't pronounce that.

---

Ok seriously why does this anime have such a great sound track? "Story of Pollyanna, Girl of Love" in spite being pretty much an obscure title really knows to sell us on music.

I think I'll pay attention to this in the future... perhaps there are patterns.

Ojou means lady. Ojou-Sama is like saying "m'lady" in an English period drama.

Dono would substitute for Sama, not the Ojou part.

I have no idea what you mean about "ouno-sama". There is no such thing to my knowledge.

As for the "dosa" thing, T and D are two consonants that often shift in languages, and it wasn't until recent centuries (post-printing press) that English / German spellings even became official one way or the other for a lot of words. P and B are also a big culprit for flipping.

WOW Reelya I could have used you a long time ago...

I asked why a character said "DOJA!!!" instead of "DOSA!" and the consensus we reached is that it was regional accent or a alternate way of saying DOSA!!! except no one knew what DOSA meant and thought I misheard Oto-san!

As for "ouno-sama" I was just saying that the "Jou" is possibly me mistaking "no". since I am not well trained for catching onto Japanese words. I pretty much write them out phonetically according to what I hear.

Well the soft "J" is not far off a "sh" sound. Think the actress Zsa Zsa Gabor. Her name was pronounced very close to "Jar Jar".

Wikipedia says her name is pronounced as "S" but as it is in "pleasure". So here, you have an English "S" but it sounds nothing like a "S" sound at all when you think about it. The "s" in pleasure isn't an "s" ("ple-sir") and it isn't quite an "sh" (ple-shir") and it isn't quite a "j" either "ple-jir". J is actually the closest however.

It doesn't help that Japanese even more then English is a language... that... how may I put it... Is very open to interpretation.

To admit though I only heard that in reference to names...

Well. dialects of England are no less convoluted than Japanese I think.

I think any "Dosa" / "Tosa" confusion in Japan is very mild compared to travelling a few miles in England, considering there are full-blown dialects specific to parts of London:

Ok I am starting to think "World Masterpiece theater" isn't as obscure as I once thought.

There is no way this music is so good for something no one cares about. Did they steal the music from another source? It is actually distracting "Wait, is this supposed to be magical? Why are you trying so hard on the music here?"

Story of Pollyanna is too well done and too long. It is a 52 episode series...

Yet why the world is this the first time I've heard of these animes? What the freeken crazy is going on? It doesn't even have the typical Japanesisms leaking through.

O_O I need to go back to finishing Black Jack... for my own sanity. At least it doesn't suddenly throw rich violin themes at me. Or Detective Conan specifically because it will throw an awesome beat at you.

Because Pollyanna is a girl's anime, it never got hyped in the West because they're all mecha and shonen fanboys.

EDIT: There are a very large pile of comparable animes that never got any mention in the West. For example a bit of digging around on Myanimelist gives:

http://myanimelist.net/anime/3836/Meiken_Jolie
http://myanimelist.net/anime/2151/Nils_no_Fushigi_na_Tabi
http://myanimelist.net/anime/2225/Alps_no_Shoujo_Heidi
http://myanimelist.net/anime/2553/Flanders_no_Inu
http://myanimelist.net/anime/283/Akage_no_Anne
http://myanimelist.net/anime/2547/Shoukoujo_Sara
http://myanimelist.net/anime/2577/Tom_Sawyer_no_Bouken
http://myanimelist.net/anime/4800/Huckleberry_Finn_Monogatari or http://myanimelist.net/anime/2545/Huckleberry_no_Bouken
And this is a 2007 anime in the same vein:
http://myanimelist.net/anime/1878/Kaze_no_Shoujo_Emily
This is just from a few minutes digging around, I'm sure there are many more comparable series

But if you want a 1980's historical drama anime, this is arguably the one with the most critical acclaim:

I feel offense at that remark :V

On a more important note, the MAL club link in your sig seems to be broken due to a stray html tag.

That's weird, I tried to fix it and there are no visible errors in the tag, the link just doesn't activate. Removed the other stuff to try and get it to work. You're welcome to join up over there, I was thinking we compile some recommendations list there for good shows that come up here.
