So does that show actually turn out to be good, or, what? I watched the first episode and was entirely unimpressed.
It seemed like it was treading the same ground as a lot of other similar type shows.

The best was I describe God Eater is that it is both good and meh at the same time... But with no division between the two.

So you can be going through a meh episode then suddenly BLAM!!! good... Or you could be going through a good episode then BLAM struck by the meh.

Today's episode was mostly good until the meh hit.

I really don't like the "Too cool for school" guy...

I finished Mysterious Girlfriend X and I have to say I really liked it even though the anime just takes a tiny weency bit from the manga and so feels largely incomplete and has no climax along with what feels like a premature ending.

The imagery with the flower full of honey covering the pair of scissors is just fuckin bizarre though.

Mysterious Girlfriend X was the only decent anime adaptation Hoods Entertainment have ever done. They specialize in really squicky shows (usually involving breast milk or similar), in the "not quite hentai" category. I think they ended up with Mysterious Girlfriend X due to the saliva angle, maybe the other studios were too squicked out by the idea, but Hoods went "sure, we'll animate anything" and got the rights to a great series. Since that show was a success they seem to be trying to go "legit" with more mainstream anime that's not automatically disgusting by default, although they still churn out some incredibly dubious OVAs. I have a feeling that the studio has a lot of ex-hentai animators working for it.

Finished Betterman last night. Was pretty weird. I think I missed some details. It took me a while to get into it because of how I didn't even realize it was suppose to be a mystery thing until the first recap episode. Really weird to think that it took place in the same universe as GaoGaiGair.

Overlord is kind of weird sometimes because it ALMOST approaches being dungeons and dragons based (right down to copying a lot of their spells and feats) ignoring a few leeways here and there

Then it is like "Ha! magic doesn't work on me!"

And I am like "Uhhh... Well there is Acid Arrow, conjuration, and plenty of other spells that ignore magic resistance and immunity"

Isn't Gaogaigar the childfriendly super robot show? I can't imagine what it has in common with the show that has a swarm of angry tube worms converge and corner a group of scientists to eat them. Or where they're all suddenly controlled by brain-insects. or with the guy that eats pine cones to turn into a godzilla reject.

... GGG is a super robot show with a child as a major character, at least. I'm less certain on it being child friendly :V
