Guess I'm the odd one out in having liked it then. Ah, well.

Another series I really loved was Haibane Renmei, but it's probably not anything close to what you might like. I've also heard good things about Higurashi no Naku Koro ni from my husband, he says it's kind of like a harem anime/psychological Call of Cthulhu-type horror blend. (Just throwing random suggestions out there for anybody who might be interested, you're under no obligation to check them out if you don't feel like it, Rashilul.)

I would wait for the Visual Novels of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni to be translated first.

The anime version is extremely watered down.

FMA: Haven't watched it.
Code Geass: Good, but some of the plot twists near the end were poorly thought out.
Higurashi: Just like The Matrix has no sequels, Higurashi has no anime.
Utawarerumono: Generic harem trash with a more action oriented theme.
Death Note: Good, but the transfer to part two is really rough.

Fullmetal Alchemist is pretty awesome, one of the best animes show in Canada.
It has a more serious mood than most I would say.



Death Note was a great show, but

About the only one I can comment on is FMA, since I haven't actually watched any of the others. But I do love me some FMA. Did you know they're redoing the entire anime to be more in line with the manga? I personally very much enjoyed the manga, way more than the anime (though the anime is still good), so I'm happy.

So far, since they're basically recapping the first series, the second series has been lower in quality . . . but the closer they get to where it diverges from the manga, the better and better it seems to be becoming. I know there is a S2 coming, been hacked to death with that by my sister who knew it was coming LOOOONG back.
I am currently watching this with my girlfriend (Ep. 9 right now) and wish to introduce her into anime too So I'll be waiting with this for some time still.

i skimmed through the episodes and it seemed excatly the same, im thinking a few line changes here and there, maybe a different enemy.

Mostly, I disliked it, it was far to chaotic for anyone without DN knowledge to follow it.

Correct on point one, points two and three are up for debate depending on what you like. I'm really enjoying it A LOT, but for some people it's just not their cup of tea, and I can definitely respect that.

But yeah, the art style is completely different, and the voice acting (as well as some of the voice actors) are also different. The music is different. The plot follows a different line. If you were completely happy with the original anime then you might not want to try the remake. (Just putting this in there as a fair warning to others.)

Also, there's a point at which the original anime and manga seriously diverge, and this anime hasn't hit that point yet. If you're annoyed by recaps, then you might want to wait until it diverges a little more. It's almost there, so not much more waiting to do. (In fact, the Created Feelings and Rush Valley episodes turned out completely different, so it may have actually started depending on how you look at it.)
