Just watched the first episode of Psycho-Pass. The way I see it, it has the violence and unnecessary gore of an 80s anime, with the art style and plot of a 2010s anime. It's pretty good so far, but I might not continue watching because it's just so gory at times. Like, the main characters have guns that literally make people explode. It's explained in-universe, but it's still completely unnecessary. They could have gotten away with an explanation of "Oh, it just fries your brain." or "Oh, it just makes your heart explode and you die of cardiac arrest." But no, it has to turn people into a fine red mist. I'd hate to be the person who has to clean that crap up.

I watched the first season of Psycho-Pass.  I really liked most of it (the world is cool and I liked most of the procedural parts) but the last few episodes were rather disappointing.

Apparently there's more in the manga, but won't be adapted into a second season AFAIK EDIT I LIED PSYCHO-PASS 2 IS A THING.

It was surprisingly smart for a cyberpunk anime that isn't Ghost in the Shell, but I have nitpicks with it, mostly with some misused symbolism that was trying too hard to be deep (especially all the references to Ode to Joy... yes Evangelion did it, but it actually meant something there).

I liked the idea that Akane was just such a plucky go-getter that it was literally impossible to permanently damage her psycho-pass.

I think the ending was a really nice conclusion, replaying the first episode with Akane taking Ginoza's place and Ginoza replacing Kogami on the Enforcers. Very nice way to end the series while leaving the door open for more.

Well, the Viscera Cleanup Detail part is, I don't know about the barefoot part.
