If it makes you feel better, Princess Jellyfish isn't about that guy; he's actually a side character and one of the romantic interests in the love triangle (if you're curious, the other one is the dancer on the right in that GIF I posted).  The anime is actually about a bunch of otaku in the general sense of the term as an obsessive - the closest you get to a stereotypical anime otaku is the manga-ka shut-in who publishes yaoi, while the others love the Three Kingdoms, trains, traditional dolls and kimono, older men, and naturally, jellyfish - who are all living in an all-woman boarding house. 

Of course, all of them have completely over-the-top hangups about guys, so...

It's worth noting, just for the record and the poor uninformed, that a part of what Arc just posted is a complete lie. I won't say what part, though. Some men are wonderful in spandex.

Still haven't gotten around to watching any of madoka myself (Though I have played this fairly interesting fan game), but reviews for it in general are significantly positive. It's pretty good at what it sets out to do.

Plastic Memories seems to have transitioned from the whole sci-fi plot with hints of romance to pure romance plot with a sci-fi setting. Pretty much what was foreshadowed from the very first episode.

I liked what they were doing with the whole "humans and robots androids working together to euthanize other androids that have reached the end of their lifespan" plot, but that work and the moral dilemmas and philosophical questions that were bundled into such a line of work have all sorta fallen into just background routines.

It's gone from "Is this the right thing to do? Isn't this like euthanizing people?" to "Just another day at the office, terminating androids and wiping their memories, think I'll get a coffee and ask that cute girl out after shutting down that client android that looks like a nine year old girl."

Still enjoyable...but. This romance is making me cringe more than past romance / rom-coms. Had no problems stomaching Clannad, Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Oreimo, Tora Dora, etc. Lovey-dovey mush is practically a guaranteed part of the romance / rom-com genre.

Meanwhile, I've been stuck on this one episode where MC asks main-love-interest out because every few minutes I find some new thing that makes me cringe and go "that's it I'm out". Taken me all day of coming back and forth to finally get through the cringey hurdle of the first 10 minutes of the episode.

Also the secondary sidegirl has tragically fallen from grace and gone from the "female work associate who gives MC a hard time because she's no longer the newbie to the job" to "generic tsundere who totally has teh hots for MC but refuses to accept it". Least liked tsundere ever. Obstruction to the OTP of MC and main girl.

Looking back at this post, I feel kinda like I'm reading Neonivek's posts. ...Am I Neo?

+1 to Madoka. Perfectly happy anime, that is. Yep. Just another "cute magical girls doing cute magical things" show.

Welcome to the stilted world of Gen Urobuchi's writing, he does that kind of stuff in EVERY series he creates. The guy honestly... Once you've seen one of his shows, you can pretty much guess all the time what is going to happen when watching the others; just think, what would make this as edgy as possible? His style of constantly trying to make you feel surprised, upset, and shitty becomes rather rote once you realize it's the one thing he writes, over and over. Perfect example: The gigantic mess of mediocrity and hilariously bad "twists" that is Aldnoah Zero.

I think this would be more tolerable if it wasn't really obvious that his thought process is that he reads/watches something, likes it, and then decides he wants to do an edgier version of that thing.

Fair enough, I'll give you that; after watching the first season I dropped the series entirely and never looked into anything more about it, so I was unaware of how little involvement he had in it. Even so, I don't think he's a particularly good writer, I feel like he's a writer in an awkward middle phase.
