Though rare can anyone think of a Visual Novel or Manga that actually was overshadowed by its much better Anime counterpart?

Also Samurai Pizza Cats is a mildly bad anime that was translated without a translation (effectively rewriting all the dialog) and become a mildly good anime somehow. There is only one other Anime I know of that did this successfully and one that did it HORRIBLE (Dang it Duel Masters)

and yes the D. Gray Man manga sucks compared to the anime because the art is so terrible it almost is unreadable.

It's about a boy who can see "lines" everywhere, lines he can use to cut things, and vampires that are murdering people in his town.*

I've only seen one ending, but I still think it's awesome.
There are so many ways to die though.

So yeah, it has gore, rape, and sex.

That is mostly because there is a large scope of Visual Novels including some that are quite litterally nothing but rape and gore (In fact combining Rape and Gore is a Genre in it of itself)

Well that and the wide number of ones that really do rely on Rape as a form of comedy including one that kinda plays out as a RPG.

Note: I don't know this due to experience but rather researching the subject... Actually I originally was looking at the top 100 most nightmare inducing things ever or somethin like that. Hyperlinks are extensive.

Id like to get into Visual novels but I really don't like a lot of what a lot of other people like. (I think the closest I have been to Mainsteam is the fact that I like Excel Saga)

  Gore: Medium high. (Descriptions of dismemberment, and heavy wounds.)
  Sex: Medium.
  Rape: Medium.
  Genre: Drama, vampires.
Fate/stay Night.
  Gore: Medium high. (Descriptions of very heavy wounds.)

  Notes: Slightly more intelligent than most Visual Novels.

  Notes: Patch has all text translated, is in indefinite reediting therefore resulting that none of the interface is translated in game, and none of the images are either. (The wiki at which it was stored has translation to the images.)
Brass Restoration Project.
  Gore: None
  Sex: None
  Genre: School, Romance, Comedy, Free.
Aoishiro
  Gore: Unknown. (Most likely small)
  Sex: None. (Though it does have scenes of some sexual nature.)
  Genre: Yuri (FemaleXFemale),  Fantasy, Sword Fighting.
  Notes: Partially translated. (Translation still alive.)
