Ok two questions and one is one I asked before

1) What is that door that is only like... half as tall as a door should be requiring you to duck under to go through for?

2) Is it true that some Japanese "Popstars" or more specifically Idols have a strong cat motif? I thought that was made up for anime.

A lot of the Idol scene is centred on Akihabara, which is also the epicenter of cosplay and anime stuff. So, yeah, I imagine that stuff all blends together there.

Though I wouldn't be suprised if these weren't really major groups with much recognition, rather they're niche groups aimed at the otaku crowd that congregates in areas like that. if you google image "akiba idol" you get a different vibe to googling "jpop idol". Much more cosplay and more amateur looking on the former.

Lately I've been trying a new strategy for anime which is I watch EVERYTHING.

And by sheer coincidence two "Become a Popstar" animes popped up at once. Both incredibly boring... But there is one thing I like about both of them

1) The Female one (Idolmaster Cinderella Girls): Just has an intriguing character, that I honestly can't get away from. The Producer is the only reason I bothered to watch past the third episode. He is entirely stoic yet seems to have genuine skills as a talent scout to the point where he can just pick people off the street. Yet he REALLY isn't the sort of person you would think could do that. As well he almost always gives canned responses so you often wonder what he is really thinking. Too bad he is a side character.
-Bonus points for the description of this anime being a LIE! AND the opening skit being a LIE! Not that the description would have drawn me in.

2) The Male One (I forgot actually): Is it gets into the inherent fakeness of the industry, every person there is given a fake personality, lines they have to rehearse, they have to practice intricate movements at all times. Heck in one scene they had mock interviews where they had to basically read their responses and would sometimes comment on how it wasn't true. Honestly if the series was about a group of guys who wanted to become a boy band, and in doing so they had to lose their identities and become a product devoid of even the most basic humanity, it would be amazing! Yet this anime seems to skirt REALLY REALLY dang close to addressing this aspect before going into "Yeah being a boy band is wonderful!".
-Or rather, this anime is not self-aware of what it is doing. It hits these issues full force on about loss of identity and the general fakeness of stardom, but it just assumes that being a popstar is great so the framing never moves past "it is wonderful!".
--Oddly enough this is the one that broke me. It was too boring for even me to muster any amount of care.

Note: Don't bother watching them... They are both bad and rather uninteresting, I just have the ability to find something to watch in even the worst TV show. I was hoping they would AT LEAST have good music... but no >_<

And what is odd is I SWEAR I recently say a third "becoming a idol" series... but these shows are so bad I forgot.

Also my strategy isn't working... most anime is just valueless schlock... I need to refine my filters.

Don't get me wrong... I've seen two "Becoming a singer" series before these ones and I likes them.

One was REALLY cheesy "reverse Harem" (I dislike that term) about this girl who went to a school that turns its students into music stars. Which is both better then it seems and worse then it seems (It is both delightfully cheesy and painfully cheesy). It was REALLY clear this anime started off as a Dating Sim. What with one of the possible love interests being a Disney Prince.

And the other was obviously Full Moon Wo Sagashite... And we all know how much I like that series.

Hah, death star face off! And I like how Yang has such a reputation that him merely being stationed somewhere makes people second guess every move the alliance makes. Too bad he is indeed, as predicted, getting hampered by political shenanigans (gotta admit Lohengramm is far better at that side of things).

Also got real confirmation now they actually use warp drives. I'd kinda like if they explained in more detail how some of the techs they use 'work', cause there some seriously iffy things going on throughout the series. Then again, that might completely crush suspension of disbelief, so maybe it's for the best.

And now Reinhard finally brings up just moving for his enemy through the second (Phezzan) passageway. Y'know, the one not guarded by a massive fortress.

If you need more explanations about tech or other things shoot me a PM. I did a lot of reading about this before, during and after the duration of my viewing. There's a lot of stuff that takes digging to learn about.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll first finish the series before potentially ruining some things through overthinking. And even if you could explain, I can only so many times see people charge into gunfire in a small hallway and not getting shot down like a scrub before things start to get silly (especially since lobbing a grenade would've solved the situation easily and much more believably).

Also, it's just like the alliance command to buckle moments before victory, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. UUUUGH.

At least Yang and friends (mostly) survived. Now to see if that earth cult thing pans out to anything (getting the feeling it'll end up bit superfluous to the story taken as a whole). Watching cultists get smashed as always fun though.

And now Blondie is He-Man and the master of the universe. Cool for him. Now to see him loose himself due to having no clear goals and enemies to fight anymore. And cry over redhead some more, of course. KIRCHEIS WHY DI YOU LEAVE MEEEEEE

These close quarters combat with axes gets sillier by the minute. Ok, so you can't shoot or you blow up the whatever particles... or 1 guy does shoot and blows up all the axe wielding assholes at once.
