I'm personally a fan of the gory.
As long as it doesn't go Berserk levels depressing (Half-Spoiler Eclipse was the WORST) I find that murderporn actually makes me enjoy a series more than fanservice.

Attack on Titan would be my favourite for it: (The whole "anyone can die" factor combined with how brutal and realistic they are seriously paints the backdrop for the entire series.) If the series had've been Shoneny... (Jumpish)? I wouldn't have liked it nearly as much.

A new Gintama series, you say? Might be worth checking out if it contains less filler than Gintama'.

I dont know what the manga ending was, but i thought this ending wrapped everything up quite well. It wasn't code geass level great but there was nothing i would have changed. Some of the close calls at the end had me on the edge of my seat though, mainly because i had read your post that some people didnt like the ending and i was worried they were going to do some last minute bullshit to fuck over the MC. Which they almost did, three times. the last one was the absolute worst. God damnit Migi.

Only thing they missed is what they ended up doing about the rest of the parasites, on a national scale. They took out the core group and their creator but there were still more out there, though im not sure they had the capacity to create more parasite eggs without the guy who originally created them.

Parasyte is cool. Maybe a bit too gory but still cool.

i actually hope they tone down the dark censoring stuff. I only noticed it a few times. but they shadow way too much when theres a ton of shredded bodies on screen.

Like, i don't mind gore when it fits with the theme of the show. Magic blood can kinda make darker shows look cartoony. But some shows exist for the gore porn alone, which can be unpleasant to watch. *cough* elfen lied *cough* higurashi *cough* tokyo ghoul


tokyo gore school is the best movie ever though. watch it with friends and family.

But by most people's definition it is a definite yes. With its long periods of torture porn... >_<

Mind you, it isn't all that bad considering say... Corpse Party or Elfin Lied... but still.

Uh. There was only one loop in Higurashi where the violence lasted more than a minute or two. Granted, it's subjective, but when most people talk about torture porn they're talking about things like Saw, where it drags on and on for far too long and the audience is expected to enjoy it. Nobody I've ever talked to enjoyed the scenes in Higurashi where people were killed or hurt... except when Satoko's uncle got it, heh.

Still can't stand that scene where the person is injected with drugs and they roil down on the floor in pain, beaten up a bit, and then chopped pieces (I actually forget EXACTLY how she dies)

So if you hate torture porn you likely will have issue with Higurashi...

But if you want Torture Porn it is the equivilant of a light beer or diet cola.

It is close enough in my books to warn someone who doesn't like torture porn. Though it rarely crosses the lines of irreprehensible... No that comes from the TERRIBLE voice acting (the only time you can tell voice acting was bad even in Japanese...) and horrible sexualization issues.

Though in an odd twist... Both the voice acting issues and the horrible sexualization actually gets toned down as it goes along. A Reverse of Marchen Awakens Romance.

Well yeah it has horror elements but it's qualitatively different from something like Saw where the infliction of pain is the main draw.  The anime is sortof bad though.

Well Saw is hardcore and Higurashi is Softcore.

To me what makes something Gore porn or Torture Porn, at least for a scene, is whether or not it revels in it.

I actually think Higurashi is good but suffers from rather big problems... but it is greater than its flaws.

But yeah I can see why people would say it is bad, since I also think it is a pretty dang bad anime. "I know booby-traps", "Why?", "I just do shut up!"

What is odd is a lot of their behavior I thought the anime was going to tell me. Since the way they act you would think they were preparing for war, and their odd behavior actually added to the mystery of the town.

Yet when all was said and done... No these were all just really creepy children.
