Honestly Wizardry is probably the Japanese Equivilant of Metroid.

In that the Wizardry series started here and eventually became much more popular in Japan to the point where it just started being made there.

While Metroid started in Japan but became much more popular in America to the point where it just started being made here... Then killed by Other M

Then killed by Other M
To be honest I actually kinda enjoyed Other M (excluding the infuriating pixel hunt sections). It wasn't even close to perfect of course, but it wasn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

I'm pretty sure that the issue most people had with Other M was completely unrelated to the gameplay.

I could type up a loooong rant, but Yahtzee did it better and smoother already. If you want the extreme tl;dr: FUCK TEAM NINJA. Those misogynistic assholes should be locked up in a cave making more absurd boob physics to giggle at instead of working on real games.

I got one of my friends into the Persona 4 anime, and I previously got a different friend into JOJO.

Actually from what I heard it was mostly the directors fault, and Team Ninja said that making the game made them feel uncomfortable at parts. IIRC

According to an /a/ thread, season 2 of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU is coming soon. Get hyped for romcoms. From the looks of it, there's a new girl joining the harem cast of social outcasts main characters.

No idea when subs are coming out or if crunchyroll will be simulcasting it.

-snip-
So, if I'm getting this right at 2:30 in the morning, "anime" is only a label based upon the ethnicity/location of who initially created the animation? I get that labels are arbitrary, but why have two different threads for such a distinction? Although, now that I think about it, it's probably to stop a lot of frustration and annoyance with too many people discussing different things on one thread.

I looked in the western animation thread and I'm quite surprised to see Avatar: TLA and LOK discussions there instead of here. That just confuses me even more, as I'm fairly certain those are considered "anime" to some extent.

And yes, JRPG's and WRPG's are not limited to country borders. Just watch this video and maybe the following two.

Avatar and Korra are Western animation, made in America. This thread is for Japanese animation. Manga also gets discussed here. I didn't think it was that complicated until people started being confused.

Anime used to be called "Japanimation" meaning everything from Japan that is animated. There really isn't a specific "style" that is solely "anime". It's just the modern way to refer to "Japanimation", which needed a new name for obvious reasons. The term is really meaningless in English except for that: the Japanese don't even have a word for anime in the sense you're talking about.

Huh, nice, they pulled up that young girl character (right up top middle) from chapter one (Which I can't watch because CRUNCHYROOOOLL), she had the one with the eye worms, right? Or is that one the girl whose soul was separated from her body in a magical ritual?
