It's thematically appropriate, but I agree completely.

Also the final twist fundamentally does not work in English, which is a shame because it's very clever otherwise

Well, it works in written English, but in-story...

I should really be watching some new anime. Finished Redline a few days ago and that was a brilliant mix of nuts and awesome.
But with that out of the way, there is the backlist to pay attention to. But I can't be bothered going through like ten different anime. Don't suppose you guys have any ideas for me? I tried watching Coppelion and while it was entertaining I couldn't go through five episodes before getting bored and just finishing up Kill la Kill.
What animes have just been finished?

tl;dr looking for teh new animes, pls halp

Rolling Girls is a great one this season.  So far it's only 7 episodes in, none has been worse than "good", and it's shaping up to be one of the best if not the best I've seen.

Gotcha. Do I get a very brief summary so I sort of know what I'm getting into?

Hard to describe, really, but there are some girls moving across an alternate, fragmented Japan to find adventure/friendship/take the place of an injured "wandering peacebroker" based in their city.  Meanwhile someone's trying to collect a bunch of superpower-granting stones, and they're caught up in that for various reasons.  It's much lighter and more cheerful than that sounds, though, and without sacrificing legitimate real plot or characterisation for it.

That actually sounds silly enough for me to get into. Thanks!

So I watched an entire letsplay of 999

and in a stunning twist the main character is 21! Wow that is like Old timer in Anime years. :P

I actually like it and would even recommend it to you hardcore murder mystery puzzle lovers.

It also has a lot less serious plot holes than Dangan Ronpa
I beat it recently and liked it, mostly. Most of the puzzles were piss easy but there were some really really tough ones. The final puzzle made me bang my head against my desk because really?!

Spoiler: ENDING PUZZLE SPOILERS (click to show/hide)

If you want to have a LOT of fun with the premise of 999 here is what you do.

Get the True Ending... Then... Just imagine the timeline of events required for it to have even been possible.

It is hilariously convoluted. Not impossible, but you could honestly make a game on just that.

Also are they Reviving Magic Kaito?

Hmm first episode and the first thing he does is sexual harassment. ANIME STAPLE!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Attempt 2... Mightiest Disciple... FAIL!

Come on anime not in the mood.

In the manga she gets back at him by wearing fish-patterned underwear. Make of that what you will.

It should also be noted that the bullshit ceiling is much higher than in Detective Conan. High tech gadgets? Readily available. Costume switch? Done in an instant (and don't ask where he's been hiding that top hat of his either). Magic? You bet that it's real.

Ohh goodness... is it honestly a running theme?

Also yeah Magic Kaito did hit a pretty big BS ceiling pretty much immediately.

Since APPERANTLY masks that completely disguise you as someone else, perfect voice copy modulators, and junk like that... All exists.

At this point it just tells me that they are allowed to pull whatever the heck they want at this point.

Depends. As a character trait, it never goes away, obviously. Later on it just focuses more on him being a gentleman and a troll.

I honestly thought it would be about magic based crimes where the gimmick is seeing through them to what they really were.

Rather then... Magical technology.
