I started watching Dennou Coil, and I started out liking it, it seemed unique if nothing else. I just finished watching episode 4 though, and I'm feeling I might have to put it down, as it's hit a barrier called the "Shit OFFICIALLY doesn't make any fucking sense" threshold. All their technology that the show is built around doesn't have an kind of internal consistency, it's just blase magic that is being made into dumb beams n' shit. What attracted me at first was that I thought the show was gonna atleast be somewhat grounded in reality, but all that shit just got tossed out the window in favor of the most non-intense fights where people rattle on keyboards at eachother until the largest nerd-penis has been decided.

For anyone familiar with the series, is there a point to staying on the boat?

Dennou Coil gets kinda weak in the early/middle part, but the later arcs are really good. The kiddyish battles/games are the weakest part of the show but luckily they're not the focus outside the early part. I felt kind of the same around that point of the show, but am very happy that I stuck with it.

On the other end of the spectrum, I've heard Vampire Knight is basically just terrible fanfiction, complete with the two hot noble guys fawning over the plain schoolgirl jerking off to each other about how they invented a bunch of stuff that they then foisted the credit for onto someone else.
