Finished Chaika The Coffin Princess Season 2. Good series. Good last episode. I enjoyed that. Would recommend.

Here's a short and interesting Manga/ OVA to check out.

Alien 9: it's like Madoka crossed with Parasyte. Fairly obscure, it deals with three elementary school girls tasked with capturing space aliens while using symbiotic alien helmets for assistance. Expect contrast of the cute and the dark and violent. Also shows shades of psychological despair. Good stuff!

The OVA is only 4 episodes long but is nowhere near a complete story, but that's what the manga is for.

Yeah Alien 9 is pretty fun, I plan to read the manga sometime. I think of it as Neon Genesis Evangelion junior: that's probably the best comparison to another series. Cute girls x space horrors x despair. The defence gear they're given is quite disturbing.

I sadly cannot seem to find more than the first few chapters of the manga. Guess I'll have to wait for it to catch up or see the OVA for the fun to start.

Speaking of manga, been reading JoJo's lately. Kind of wish I hadn't seen Stardust Crusaders already, but oh well. Also I sometimes find it hard to believe this series wasn't drawn for women, what with the jacked men in bizarre poses all the time. Baron Zeppeli and Perfectly Normal High School Students also falling into this category amuses me to no end.

Though I have to say, I was pretty disappointed by Jonathan's instagib at the end of Vol1; it felt like a fairly blatant plotkill to me.

Also kind of disappointed by the whole oni thing. After all that, there just didn't seem like as much meat to the explanation/interactions as there should have been. Also felt like the backstory ("12,000 year old genius member of sister race to humanity invents vampires and battles Roman Empire") ended up being... "larger-sounding" than the actual depicted events ("fight four guys and some vampires, then throw him in a volcano"). Felt like it was trying to or should have been much more epic than it was.

Also on gripe for Vol2, JoJo's tricks felt kind of asspully at times. I do think they pulled off making him a slippery motherfucker in general, it just didn't always flow well.

The JoJo manga is good. I've been waiting for Part 3 to get fully decent online scans, or the second season of the anime to finish. And then I'll read every part thereon.

I always like the parts in the anime where the narrator voice gets really excited, like, when That guy is revealed with his cyborg body the narrator starts screaming about the facts of how cool that cyborg body is.

I watched welcome to the nhk with a friend last week, was a solid show, would only recommend it to someone whose already watched a good chunk of anime before though. Good comedy, does get depressing at times.
