Fate/Stay Night is about 1,000,000 words long in English.  That's significantly longer than famously massive works of literature such as War and Peace (~590,000) and The Bible (~800,000).  I think that is pretty much objectively "long", if not then I don't know what else you could say is.

"Boring" is naturally an opinion, but I think it's one that most people would share.  I'm fine with character and relationship development (heck, LotGH is my favourite anime) but a lot of FSN... just isn't that.  It's Tohsaka telling you things about the magic system that never matter, it's Kotomine endlessly monologuing about morality, it's so many overly long and pointless scenes just talking to Saber in the dojo about training.  The cooking was also pretty pointless in the context of the wider story but that at least was sortof interesting.

The anime has cut out a lot of this stuff and I think it's way better for it.

... yeah, pretty much. I burnt out on an LP at some point, iirc. The secondary stuff has better organized entertainment and less sub-par porn. Advantage: Not the VN.

I'm sorry, but I just can't be assed to read a million word story when 6 of those words are "My meat expands to its limits."* I'm not Tohsaka.

*I am aware that this might actually be one of the other works in the series. I don't actually care - it's illustrative enough.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

... no, no, I could see a few situations where that line could come up and still be a fairly good reason to investigate a piece of writing. If a character was drunk out of their mind and screaming it in the middle the street, ferex. Something absurd along the lines of hentai kamen, yeah?

E: I could also see it come up pretty comfortably in, say, Toriko.

Well realistically you're going to be playing Realtua Nua.  Although I think that might be even longer with the additional scenes.

Fairly certain it's innuendo. Don't know the context, don't think I want to know the context.

I'm sure it was just in reference to accidentally adding yeast to meatloaf.

"Oh, great, I misread the recipe, now my meat expands to its limits."

It is kind of interesting what difference calm reflection can make on an outlook of an anime you watched a month or a year ago.

You tend to forget a LOT of the boring filler and dumb moments and sort of get a highlight reel stuck in your head.

Theres a reason for which Realta Nua was made.
Also, I love to read so the VN is perfect for me :P

The VN isnt meant to be a manga or anything similar, its meant to be literally a novel on where you can see whats going on (To some extent).

Btw, the VN is 820,595 words, including all bad ends and etc.

I think my personal problem with reading Fate/stay Night is that it is not actually very well written.

I'm speaking in terms of technical writing ability here, you can clearly see it was made by an amateur who does not possess a lot of experience in pacing or dialogue.
This is entirely removed from the quality of the concept, which is something amateurs often have in good abundance but can rarely put into practice.
