... does it still have that somewhat uncomfortable age gap between the two?
They are both in the same school I believe.

Junior and Senior... but the thing about Age gap is... it matters the most when it is adult with non-adult :P

So next year he will be a full blown adult in a relationship with an underage teen :P

And so pedomoru dies a blessed death.

Actually thought the gap was a bit larger than it is, though. Turns out it's only a three year difference in the original... could have sworn the guy was closer to twenty than 17 when the series started. Chiba apparently hit the ground running when it came to education, I guess.

But yeah, it was 14 vs 17 (and either graduated or about to graduate high school, for the latter, vs. just starting it) when the original started, checking the wiki. 16 vs 19 when it ended. Definitely appears to have shrunk a year or two in the remaking.

Wait, I could have sworn he was in university in the original... I mean, it'd be nice if that wasn't the case, but the guy lived on his own, and I seem to recall occasional references to it. Huh.

He was, yes. E: [squelch] Check that, he was a senior (equivalent) for the first year of the original material. Part way through the second, entered uni.

Mind you, he also went to an entirely different school than the senshi, so. It's still something approaching a bit odd.

E2: Ooh, shit, that's probably what's causing the difference. Chiba apparently has different ages in the anime and the manga. He's actually 19 (vs Usagi's 14) at the start of the former.

E3: Which, yeah. That wouldn't pass statutory.

Been watching Amagi Brilliant Park. It's from the creator of Full Metal Panic as well & It's quite nice. Good animation & good laughs.

Also watched Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso/Your Lie in April. It made me go "Wow" & has gotten my attention. Hope it keeps it up.

Also some of my pals & I watched Ore Twintail Ni Narimasu! after some nonsensical reasons...

So the guy transforms into a twin tailed little girl power ranger style. Huh.

We lost some braincells but we did get some laughs out of it. Been a long time since a cool anime parent was around.

Then you get cities like Paris where you should basically just kill yourself already.

You won’t have to think anymore: it’ll be just like having fun!

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

High school Of The Dead. Has some good moments like that between plenty of fanservice.

Yeah, Saya's parents are crazy neo-feudalists and they kick ass.

Really, it's yet another repetition of HSotD: great potential ruined by being a fanservice series. I'd kill for an anime that did a serious take on the zombie apocalypse with that sort of bizarre feeling minus the fanservice. And maybe minus that creepy teacher too, spirits.

I hate it when an anime ignores its own plotline.

So in Future Card Buddyfight... "Darkness Dragon World" is a scientific fact, it is a very recent discover but has also been a myth for a very long time.

Yet... the characters STILL treat it like it is a myth...

MAYBE the cards existing being a myth (as they explained it isn't a world that connects directly to earth, so cards for it wouldn't really exist) but not the world itself.

What the heck anime!

To admit though... that doesn't bug me as much as the Buddy Skill (a unique power given to you by your monster "Buddy") always being flight (to this date, it hasn't been flight exactly once)... It would be like watching One Piece where the legendary Devil Fruit could give you ANY power under the sun... Yet it gives everyone rubber powers.

That sounds ripe for a tongue-in-cheek parody about how it's not the "special" power you have, it's how you use it central you are to the plot.

To admit... the second the only person without flight got his power... he was immediately put on a bus and left the series... so you are onto something.
