I love how it's been fifteen episodes and I still don't know how to play WIXOSS.
This is the most amusing case of a show being commissioned by a company to advertise a product, and then the studio just ignoring the whole advertising angle to do their own thing with it. At least, that's really how it feels.

The product itself looks like the spin-off, it was released after the show already started, which might explain why the rules are so vague. Mari Okada, a well known scriptwriter wrote the whole thing, and is also authoring the mangas that have come out after the anime started. So it's pretty much a Mari Okada story, with cards.

Except the card game was released only 23 days after the anime started. Unless someone managed to create and distribute a card game in 23 days, I think it's much more likely that they were developed at the same time. Which I guess sorta explains why the anime is so vague on how the game works, since... They still weren't entirely sure how it'd work when the script was finalized. Or something. I may just be talking out of my ass here.

It's Mari Okada writing the whole story, the card game is pretty much just merchandizing for the series. If you think about it, the grimdark "playing this will kill you" story would be really bad "advertising" for an existing game.

It's a matter of degree, some anime/cartoons are just created to sell toys, whereas this one is a story and they made some toys as a merchandizing tie-in. They recruited a lot of popular artists to do the illustrations, I'd say the focus is on collecting the cards rather than actually playing the game.

what a wonderful season this is
~The mood is right
The spirits up
We're here forever
And that's enough

Simply having a wonderful anime time
Simply having a wonderful anime time

The party's on
The feeling's here
That only comes
When anime doesn't suck (and it usually does!)

Simply having a wonderful anime time
Simply having a wonderful anime time

The choir of privileged man children sing their song
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding ohhhh
Uwwwoooooooo

Simply having a wonderful anime time
Simply having a wonderful anime time

The word is out
About the show
Your hand is sore
Ahhh don't look down

Simply having a wonderful anime time
Simply having a wonderful anime time

The choir of ignorant pseudointellectuals sing their song
They practiced all year long
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong~

Just combine all the popular bad shows in one, huh?

Wow, what an incredible appeal to bad taste. It'd be like the Nazis wearing brightly-colored poofy-legged pantaloons, tights, and puffy shirts; it really shouldn't be any worse than the base form, but it somehow is.

Started watching Terraformars. Seems decent so far based on the first two episodes. A slight Attack on Titan vibe, yet delightfully corny ("We're sending you on a mission to Mars, here's your trench coat"). I'm going to watch it no matter what since it has the same voice actor as Saori Takebe in one of the lead roles (Sheila), and I love her bubbly voice. The art style is different from most I've seen so far, more like western style animation in many ways.

Also watched through the OZMA miniseries. It's a bit sad that the short shows have the most interesting settings.

Also the Sailormoon remake is FINALLY coming out onto its own.

It better highlights the relationship between Sailormoon and Tuxedo mask.

They are both in the same school I believe.
