Oddly enough I never realized how much more subtle and how much sillyness the original anime got around.

But I will say this... Darrien/Mamoru has the WORST DISGUISE EVER! He makes Superman look like a master of disguise.

I am not used to it being subbed, I am so used to it being dubbed and the names being things like Anthony, Melvin, Molly, and Serena.... So all of a sudden I am off kilter.

I was a bit worried the fights would be in 3d, but luckily that wasn't the case.

Otherwise I don't really have much to say... in spite of the art upgrade... this is nearly a shot for shot recreation of the first episode of the original anime. With the differences being mild and unimportant. I am waiting for it to diverge from the anime.

If this ever gets dubbed by the same voice actors (super unlikely) or roughly equally skilled ones... I will jump on it (the Canadian dub... not the American)

Im still watching mahouka because of the sheer entertainment value. The animation*(i mean the art. Theres actually very few frames in the actul animation most of the time), the over the top stupidity of everything, the main character's blatant immunity to logic they dont even try to hide, it's just so much fun. It's wonderfully ridiculous. Speaking of mahouka, it's intro song has followed the trend of 2nd season intro songs being extra terrible, same as about 5 other shows this season, all in the same way. Did they collaborate to bring us music this terrible?

How is the music terrible? My first guess would be vocals, but seeing how I'm not at all capable of understanding Japanese I can't tell if the vocals of any anime OPs are good or bad outside of sheer musicality.
